Chance me!

Sex: F
Hooks: 1st gen
School: In the most richest county in the world with excellent schools (Thomas Jeff. High is in the same county)
Race: Asian

Overall UW GPA: 3.6
Freshman Year GPA: 3.4 UW
I take the most rigorous courses in my school: HN Geo, HN Eng, HN Bio, HN History, Chinese 1
Sophomore Year GPA: 3.09 UW
Again, most rigorous courses: HN Alg2, HN Eng, HN Bio, AP World, Chinese 2
the reason why my GPA was so low this year is because i have a C in AP World which obviously brings me down a ton):
Predictions/Goals:
Junior Year: 3.9 GPA
Physics, Precalc/Tric, AP Lang, AP Psych, HN US History, Chinese 3, Peer Helping
Senior Year: 3.9 GPA
AP Physics, AP Calc, HN Govt, HN Eng/AP Lit??, AP Macro/Micro, AP Chinese, AP Stat

I also have extremely unique and great EC’s (I am a very competitive figure skater who skates about 15 hours a week with a handful of medals from local competitions and I am in the highest level possible (Senior). I am also a dedicated figure skating coach who works about 4 hours a week for children, seniors, and people with mental disabilities. I can ask my boss to write me a good rec, because he really likes me and thinks im an incredibly active instructor).

My family has a history of doing incredibly well on the SAT’s because my dad is very good at helping me and my sibs prepare. My oldest sister who graduated HS with a gpa of 3.3/4 UW gpa and went to VT engineering had a near perfect SAT score, with maybe 50 points off (the 1600 SAT) and my sister who went to TJHSST and went to Columbia got a 2350 on her SAT, so my prediction would be:
2200-2300

I am interested in majoring in business, but to increase my chances, I will first apply as an engineer, since they are looking for females in that department, then switch to international-b if i get accepted!

I’m not sure that entering through the CoE as an “easier” way into UMich makes any sense. The average UW GPA for CoE is 3.9+ amd UMich indicates GPA is very important. Also, business is an entirely different school that you apply to after your freshman year. There are certain pre reqs you have to have and GPA counts for a lot.

@96blue thanks for the input. what about applying as a b major?

You can apply for early admit to Ross but it is super competitive for an incoming freshman, harder than CoE. Most people apply at end of freshman year; 40% admit rate or something like that.

Your GPA is very low for UMich. What grade are you at? You have senior GPA but still not applied to college and have not SAT/ACT score? Are you in a gap year?

@billcsho if you look at my profile carefully, you can see that the 3.9 gpa is my goal/prediction. i am currently a sophomore. and I thought that the majority of the people with a 3.3 or higher get into mich?? http://collegeapps.about.com/od/GPA-SAT-ACT-Graphs/ss/university-of-michigan-admission-gpa-sat-act.htm

also, on collegedata.com it says that the average gpa of umich applicants who got accepted is a 3.7, so do you have very high standards?

You should look at UMich’s offical admission stat. The average admission GPA was 3.85 last couple years. GPA 3.3 is way below the 25% and not likely to be admitted at all.
http://admissions.umich.edu/apply/freshmen-applicants/admitted-student-profile
Also, 21% of enrolled freshmen last year has GPA4.0.

Are you in-state or out-of-state? I was admitted with about a 3.65 un-weighted GPA, and I am an out-of-state Asian and not first-gen, although I had some pretty interesting experiences to talk about (and I applied early).

@yikesyikesyikes i am oos, so i know that it might be a bit tougher. what was your SAT score and EC’s may i ask?

SAT was 2250 (2300 super-scored)- My ECs included leadership positions in about 5-6 school/community organizations, with me being the top officer in about 2 of them- I also participated in some organizations where I was just a member. I also did an internship.
