I’m female. I’d be going for a math major, and my stats are as follows:
800,800,800
4.0 GPA
Qualified for USAJMO (12 on AIME I think)
Awarded at MathPrize for Girls
Possibly medaled at the MathPrize Olympiad, will see soon
Attended Ross Math Program and HCSSiM
Thanks a ton!!
Sorry for edit: in case it makes a difference, I also do Community service teaching kids math once a week, I’ve worked at a math tutoring center, and I’m a math tutor and I’m a math study session teacher at my school.
@newyork17 You have a lot of good math achievements which is nice, but remember that MIT looks at the entire application – including grades, letters of recommendation, essays, interview, etc. For example, I scored 13 on USAMO and was rejected by Caltech.
But going in as a female in mathematics (which is still very underrepresented) I think you have a good shot.
I was at MP4G this year too
You didn’t elaborate much on your essays/recs/non-math extracurriculars, so it’s hard to say, but you should have a good chance.
@delineated Yay!!! I wonder if I know you lol… Anyway, My other extracurriculars are:
Astronomy: on board of Astronomy Club, doing research
Latin: on the board of Latin Club, competed at Certamen
Debate: on my school’s team, won 4th place speaker and 1st pair (novice, I’m not too good) in the latest inter scholastic competition (extemp parliamentary)
Cross country: on varsity team, not very good though, just really done for fun
