Chance Me?

I am a white, male high school junior at a boarding school in Vermont. I visited Williams and loved it, and I am going to apply Early Decision.

GPA: 94.xx unweighted
Class Rank: Not yet calculated, but my counselor estimated 10%, possibly 5%.
SAT (this was a fluke, I’m retaking as well as taking the ACT): 1380, 710 on English and 670 on Math
SAT Subject Tests: Literature 670, American History 730
APs: English (5), Seminar (5), US History (5), Psychology (5)
Awards: National Merit Semifinalist (currently applying to be a finalist), various school-level awards for academics/athletics

Essay: Excellent, written about how a camp CIT program taught me how to develop self-confidence and informed my decision to become a teacher.

Teacher Recommendations: Great, written by the English Department Head and my APUSH teacher.
Counselor Recommendations: Fantastic, she has a huge amount of faith in me and has nominated me for several national scholarships. We are very close.

ECs: Full-time cabin counselor at a sleep away camp this summer
Varsity and team captain for cross country, indoor track, and outdoor track (on the teams all four years)
Two week service trip to Ghana to work with kids and learn about local politics
National Honor Society and related community service events
Dorm Council
Student Dorm Proctor
Student Ambassador
Summer Middle School Track Coach
New Dorm Student Orientation Trip Leader

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

You’re a candidate. Test scores aren’t superb, so make sure your essays are really unique and special. My Williams essay was probably my favorite of all that I wrote, and I think that’s why I was admitted RD. Your SAT IIs are better than mine were, but my SAT I was a tad stronger, so really you’re in the ballpark ED but just need to make sure you present your best self in your app. If the ACT goes better (~33+ I’d estimate) definitely send that instead.
GOOD LUCK!
