Chance Me!

Hi! I currently attend a competitive public high school in NY. I have a 2.98/4.0 GPA (unweighted), and a 24 ACT and 25 super score. I participate in various clubs. I have also been apart of the varsity softball team. I have very good recommendations from 3 of my teachers. I also have a strong essay and supplements. I have also gone on interviews with the schools that offer them.

I don’t take AP’s, but I take all the basic classes. I am taking Cambridge Global Perspectives (Junior and Senior year), and SUPA Forensics (Senior year). I took 5 electives to boost my GPA and get more credit between my junior and senior year.

Major: Communications

I am applying to:
Syracuse (Newhouse) (Interviewed) -RD
Villanova TOP CHOICE- EA
UConn -RD
Fordham- EA
Scranton -EA
URI- EA
UDelaware- RD
Muhlenberg (interviewed)- RD
Quinnipiac (Interviewed) -RD
Binghamton- EA

Villanova is my top priority right now. I would also consider Syracuse if I get into Newhouse. Please chance me!

I know nothing in regards to the schools listed however, you can only ED to one school and you have 4 schools listed as ED. Is this a typo?

Edited: I guess it was. Good luck and sorry I cannot offer any helpful input.

Just fixed that:)

I will be very honest with you because my son just went through the process. Your GPA and ACT scores are a bit low for these schools: Binghamton, UConn, Fordham, Syracuse, Villanova, Muhlenberg. These schools are all reach for your stats. When colleges look at GPA, they concentrate on math, science, social studies and English, that is, the core subjects so forget about electives where you get an easy A. The rest of the schools on the list are between target and reach. You need to have more target schools and I don’t see one safety school. Speak to your guidance counselor ASAP to create a more balanced list. For the record, my son’s unweighted average was 92 out of 100 and new SAT score was 1,270-he applied to these schools: Allegheny, Bryant, CUNY (Baruch, Hunter, City, Queens, Brooklyn colleges), Drexel, Fairfield, Fordham, Hobart & William Smith, Hofstra, Ithaca, LIU, Loyola Maryland, Pace, Quinnipiac, Siena, St.John’s in Queens, Temple, UConn, U Hartford, SUNY (Binghamton, Albany, Buffalo, Stony Brook, Geneseo, Oneonta, Old Westbury, Fredonia, New Paltz). Stony Brook and Bing were a reach, others were target and safety. He was accepted everywhere-Bing though was waitlist for the Fall 2017, guaranteed acceptance for the Spring 2018 and eventually off the waitlist and taken for the Fall 2017. If you can boost the ACT score to 28, you are in a much better spot.

some of the schools on this list have moved to the super competetive level. loke UCONN. used to be easiar getting in there now from my guidance counsellor its a reach for me @ 92/100 unweighted 1400sat and 6 APs please talk to your counsellor. villanova, udel, fordham, syracuse and binghamton would be a little strech i think, but you never know… quinnipoac would be ok. good luck to you …

Villanova’s average GPA was a 3.9 this year and ACT was around 30 I believe

Syracuse is a BIG reach for you, especially RD and Newhouse. If you want to study communications, you may want to look at Ithaca College (a LAC that has a very good Journalism program).
