Really good diversity essay
30 hours of volunteering, I work, I run track (ran for 3 years plus going to senior year)
You have a chance, in spite of your low ACT. Are you taking the hardest classes offered at your high school? Colleges may be willing to overlook a low ACT if they see you are handling a tough college prep curriculum well. Also, are you being recruited for track by Miami? That would be huge.
I got in with those scores but did ED
I’ve taken ap lang, (taking) ap physics and calculus. Took one honors and this yr I’m also taking 4 college courses with other regular classes. I’m not being recruited haha, I don’t plan on running track in college, but I got accepted into their diversity program which will give me scholarship money if I get into Miami. Plus everyone there was saying I have a good chance of getting in since I attended bridges.
Sounds like you’ll get in. Miami is looking for diverse students who can do the work. As long as your record shows that you are likely to succeed in college, I don’t think that MU will ding you for a low ACT.
Thank you! This whole college process just makes me anxious
Got accepted everyone!!
Congrats. My S was just admitted to FSB, but is thinking of switching to Engineering. Not sure how difficult that would be.
thank you! It shouldn’t be too hard, try calling admissions.
Congrats on getting in…what kind of merit scholarship did they offer you?
Thanks everyone! @Honorsmom I attended the bridges program so with that + merit aid I got $7000 a year. I was expecting more, but still grateful I got a total of $28 k. Might not attend if it is expensive though.
That’s pretty good. Congratulations! What are the other schools you’re interested in?
@Honorsmom I have applied to OSU but I got deferred, accepted to Ohio university, applied to uni of Cincinnati, NYU and Bowdoin college.
@Hm0416 have you heard anything from UC yet? My daughter applied there and Miami and hasn’t heard anything from either. She’s been accepted to 5 other schools but UC and Miami were in here top 3.
@Honorsmom Not yet. I think it’s because I applied as an Engineering major and I heard they look at those applications in late January.
My daughter was accepted to UC this week, did you hear anything yet @Hm0416?
@Honorsmom Nothing yet. Did she receive any information about the aid they’ll give her as well?
No, nothing in regards to aid. I read on here, in the UC forum, that they hold onto that information until the 2nd week of February.
Still nothing…anyone else get anything?
My son was admitted on Jan 5, 2018 to aerospace engineering. Have received no aid info yet.
