If any one could shed some light on my chances I would be thrilled! Personally, I don’t feel all that confident myself given how competitive this admission year seems to be (Amherst accepted 11 transfers last year, with 9 from community colleges)…

My stats --

No academic record prior to college (was raised in a cult-like environment, and home-schooled with no formal curriculum).

I am currently attending a respected community college in California.

I have 46 units under my belt, and have maintained a 4.0 since starting college. Most of my classes have been to fulfill general education requirements for California Universities. I have taken two English courses, three history courses, one course in microeconomics, one course in human biology, one course in art history, as well as introductory courses in environmental studies, political science, photography, sociology, and psychology. I am currently taking courses in statistics, political science, history and physical geography. Due to my background, I also had to take two HS level math courses in Algebra. I was encouraged to take these courses on a credit/no credit basis, which probably doesn’t look great on my transcript.

I opted not to take the SATs (Amherst does not require them), due to my intense school schedule. I realize this will probably hurt my chances.

I have worked full-time since the age of 16, and throughout college. I do not have extra-curricular activities apart from a 6-month internship at a film production company.

I believe I have strong essays, with probably decent recommendations that reflect my place in the top 5% of my classes.

Thank you!
