Guys..I know my SAT score is too low for some of the schools...but do i still have lil chance?or should i just forget about these schools like BU,cornell,Wesleyan and Wellesley?

You have a good shot if you can convey that you are a really diverse and individual person. Some of the selective ones are a bit of a reach, but if you apply to them all you will do fine

hmm, well I wouldnt be too dependent on getting in those colleges.
Your EC are a bit weak, and your SATs are not too top-notch, but hey, I've been wrong before, and there is no saying that I am not here.

thanks wenger302 and st. aegis

umm..sigh..im so worry about my SAT score="[ wait to see my Nov score come out..
anyways..essay plays a big role in admission process of LACs right?
I have to work hard on my essays..

your SAT scores and ECs are a bit weak, but that doesnt mean you dont have any chance. If you write a really good essay and have awesome recs, you should be fine. I heard of bunch of ppl w/ low GPAs (like.. around 3.4) or w/ low SAT scores (like 2000s) that get into top schools.. some even to harvard. who knows, maybe you will get into your #1 school.

thx mephistomaster99

umm..for recs,we dun have any chance to see these teachers' recs..how can i know if it is awesome or not? what should i tell my teachers??

if you asked for a rec to a teacher that knows you the most, or likes you the most, then you can just assume that the rec would be awesome. i dont think anyone would write a bad rec. if you asked a teacher who doesnt like you or w/e, then it is their job to refuse writing you a rec, instead of writing a bad rec. so basically, you can assume that your rec would be good.

Based on your accomplishments & ECs, you may want to consider RISD = Rhode Island School of Design--especially if you like drawing. RISD is close to Brown University & I think that you are able to take classes at Brown University if you are a student at RISD.

yeah you can. i guess it wouldnt hurt to apply.

thx coldwind

But I dun really wanna stuck into Art/design..b/c im interested in psychology, too.
RISD needs good SAT score..do you guys think my CR is too low..?sigh

i have a question to ask, im an international student, but i would like to know why the thread-starter felt the need to mention she was asian?

Asians are over-represented at many top colleges. There have been allegations of affirmative action and Asians being held to higher standards than other races (white or African-American). Case in point - UC Berkeley's Asian enrollment rose to 40% after the state outlawed racial considerations in admission.

ahh , makes sense now.

thanks

bump~~~~~~~~~~~

I think you're in at BC.
CMU is more of a high-match.

You don't want to get "stuck into art and design" because you want to do psychology but you're applying to cooper for architecture. You know that Cooper architecture is... right? Go right ahead and apply to RISD. You may cross-register at Brown with no extra tuition and take psych (but not get a degree... unfortunately.. you need to dual-degree for that)

And, also, your portfolio is obviously a big thing and "art award from art teacher" sounds like resume padding to me. Portfolio will get you into top schools if it's top-notch art... I think.

Feel free to PM me.. I'm applying to quite a few of those schools and I think we have similar stats.

thx nooob

what about other schools..?
i just talked to my college counselor..she said,if my sat scores are lower than the avg sat scores that colleges given..(CR score hurts me most)i prob get reject..feel so depress...if what she said was true, then i prob get reject by all the schools like BC,CMU,CORNELL,WELLELEY,etc..is it worth to apply??

I think many of the liberal arts school decisions depend on the quality of your art. I'm guessing that you're a very good artist, and if your portfolio is impressive, that has to play a positive factor. Still, Cornell is going to be a tough one (like it is for everyone!)

thx I495

im not sure if im going to apply for cornell..seems like i will def reject me..=.=

bump............
