Chance Meeeeeeeeeeee

I am making a few assumptions here, all of which are in my extracurriculars.

I want to study Biology or go Premed or Neuroscience or something like that!!
General Information:
High School: One of the top 20 in the US. (It's a boarding school not in NY)
Sex: Female
Location: NY
Ethnicity: White

Stats:
GPA: approximately 90 (it's very good in context of the school I go to)
Rank: School does not rank.
SAT: 2180 (CR: 700, M: 720, W: 760 [12 Essay])
SAT II's: 800 Math IIC, 760 Bio M, 680 Lit
ACT: 35 (I'll send this in :))

Significant Extracurriculars:
Math Team: 4 years (Captain during Jr. Year)
Engineering Team: 3 years
School Newspaper: 4 years; Positions held: Staff writer, Business Manager, Publisher (basically 2nd in command)
Internship at a prestigious cancer research lab: Spent over 360 hours here during my sophomore year summer. I am spending another 300 hours here this summer.
Chorus: 3 years
Sports: I've done sports every season of every year in high school (mostly track/cross country)
Quiz Bowl: Team founder and captain (Junior and Senior years)

Significant Awards:
- Likely National Merit Semifinalist (PSAT: 224)
- School Fellowship ($3,500): This is one of the things that makes my application unique. The fellowship that I won is awarded to one student in my grade every year, and it's extremely competitive. My fellowship has a lot to do with my focus on cancer research, and I went to China to pursue it!
- I will be applying to the Siemens-Westinghouse competition.

Schools that I'm interested in:/u
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (legacy) [EARLY ACTION]
UChicago [EARLY ACTION]
University of Pennsylvania
Duke University
Brown University
Cornell University
Rice University
Tufts University
Emory University
University of Michigan

Are there any schools you guys think I should remove from my list considering my interests? Any I should add?

Also, I'm really confused about early applications. Can I apply to my 3 EA schools and then a 4th ED school? I know if I got accepted into the ED school, I'd have to go. Are there any ED schools that would allow me to apply there with EA applications out at the same time? Any that are on the same level as MIT or Caltech?
THANKS!

Usually ED is binding and you are only allowed to apply to one school. So that means you can't do 3 EA schools and a 4th ED one. If I were you, I would just apply EA to UChic and MIT.

Anyway, your stats are pretty great, but I'm not too sure about the GPA. If it still means that you are at the top of your class, I wouldn't see a problem with it though. MIT is probably your biggest reach, but with the legacy I wouldn't be too surprised if you got in. The rest are all lower reaches or matches.

Bumpppppppp

nice ACT score.
MIT is a low reach.
Chicago is a reach
Penn, Brown - reach
Duke, Cornell - low reaches
Rice, Tufts, Emory - matches
Michigan - low match

we're applying to a lotttt of the same schools :)

I agree, you have a good shot at most of the schools you listed (in that general order, with decreasing difficulty).
Question about sci ri: are you not doing STS or JSHS?

What's JSHS?

Also, would I be able to apply ED to Duke while applying EA to MIT and UChicago?

consider emory and michigan as safeties

buuuuuuuuuuump:)

i hate NY GPAs

You generally can't apply early to more than one very selective college, they usually offer SINGLE CHOICE early action or early decision. If you do and the colleges find out then you're screwed.

If you want to do Neuroscience, I would also consider Pomona College. Amazing School with great Neuro program and amazing weather! I almost went there, but I turned it down for Brown. I have found that you can't really chance people for Brown. I thought I was rejected for sure.

Thanks for the recommendation, srs.
Also, buuuuuuuuuuuump

bumpppppppp
