I know it's early to talk, but I plan on transferring after my first year. I regretted not applying, I was so sure I wouldn't get accepted. Now I'm having 2nd thoughts. Should I apply next year? I know transfer rate is terribly low. I will put up more stats I'm not sure which ones you guys need for a full assessment.

in …n… out

Also, what does a usual transfer student look like? haha…i feel like I have to have a nobel prize in order to get accepted now…I wish I had applied as a freshman! Does anyone know a transfer student accepted and their stats?

i feel like i need 2 know more about ur stats…they do look pretty good so far…but i mean 1-2% admission means no one is guaranteed a spot…maybe if u become a ny times bestseller lol

how active/interested are you in your culture?

‘Active?’ I guess I’m more ‘active’ in the African American side of my culture…since the majority of my family is AFrican american. Still both of my grandmothers are(were) Native American(1/2) and we are close so I learned a lot about that side of my culture from them…
As far as clubs or groups I was thinking of looking into that in college…I’m not sure…Do you think that will be helpful to show Stanford I’m interested in my culture?

Looking in to you African-American and Native American roots could really, really set you application apart, that is if you are legitimately interested in them. That said, if you don’t want to be involved in you heritage, that’s cool, but don’t try to play it up for an application because an admissions officer can see right through it. I see you are planning to start of U of M this year. Do you want to transfer to Stanford?

Yes, I plan to transfer maybe next year or the year after… or I at least plan to try.
Well, yes I am interested in my heritage obviously…but I’m not sure how to demonstrate that on an app… Attending tribal meetings? Joining a club at my school? Researching my ancestors? Talking to my grandparent? I guess all of these would be a good idea…

Totally! Those are great ideas!! Just wondering … what tribe are you from?

Blackfoot (Blackfeet)

Cool! I’m cherokee and muscogee (creek). i was just accepted to stanford. they have a huge native community. you should try to get in contact with the native american reps over there. they are a lot of help!

thanks, great idea! and congrats!
