chance my anxiety !

Hi folks, 1 week until EA decisions and I’m beginning to feel the stress. Posting my stats here in hopes of a reality check.
Female, white, from a public school in IL

ACT: 33 superscore
GPA: 4.2something
Coursework: 9 APs, all AP social studies and english classes, advanced math including BC calculus, currently taking AP macroeconomics. Band/choir for a few years, and currently in Spanish 3
no subject tests because if I got a 5 on APUSH exam, why would I pay more to take a US history subj. test?

Extracurriculars:
VP of city youth council, governer campaign intern, YMCA youth & government president, speech captain, frosh/soph JV tennis, IL Girls State delegate, junior camp counselor for the past 3 summers, concessions worker, babysitter, food pantry organizer/volunteer, School Walkout organizer of my district, currently working with state representatives on youth legislation

Application
Early Action to Georgetown College (sort of wish I did SFS, is it worth it to switch?)
Essays: I’m proud of them. Personal, candid, passionate, and empathetic. my “education” essay was about the socioeconomic diversity of my public school experiences.
Interview: I felt it went super well, the interviewer told me I’d fit in at GU and have a lot to give to the community. Covered info that wasn’t on my application like activism for menstrual products at school, and creating dating violence posters for school bathrooms.

I am nervous. SOS. keep it real. thanks in advance

Did you apply for government? i’ve been seeing a lot of people who want to major in government on here lately, which is super cool but also nerve-wracking since I hope to go for government too. I’ve said this on other posts, but I’m just another applicant, so don’t take my word as law or anything… Just thought I’d comment to maybe help alleviate some stress bc I am sooo feeling it too. Overall I think you’re a great applicant. From what I’ve seen, Gtown likes political extracurriculars, and you’ve got some so that should help. I don’t see any huge weakness (some people think sbject tests are a huge deal bc Gtown mentions them so much, but honestly I’ve heard of multiple people getting in without them)… Best of luck!!!

@willisbet i applied for justice & peace studies, but i’m pretty sure Gtown doesn’t admit by major, only by college, so multiple gov’t applicants hopefully won’t hurt you! thanks and good luck to us!

“no subject tests because if I got a 5 on APUSH exam, why would I pay more to take a US history subj. test?”

Uh oh.

Unweighted GPA? Even if the APUSH test substituted for the US history subject test (it doesn’t), where are your other subject test scores? Gtown strongly recommends 3

The SATII’s are important because Gtwon strongly recommends taking them.

“SAT Subject Tests - It is strongly recommended that all candidates, whether they have taken the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT, submit three SAT Subject Tests scores. The scores from writing portion on the SAT Reasoning Test and the optional writing portion of the ACT will not be used in place of a Subject Test.” https://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/firstyear/preparation

It’s not impossible to get in without subject tests…I’ve seen a few people on here get in without taking any. That being said, if you get a deferral I would recommend taking them so you can stand out in the RD pool. Good luck!

Best to follow the rules.

APUSH and USH don’t even test the same skill sets. USH is thought to be the harder of the two, BTW.

Posting my stats as well

Application
Early Action to NHS for Human Science
Essays:Pretty good. I wrote the personal one about how OCD has a positive impact on my life and makes me who I am. Wrote my school specific one about originally wanting to study latin in college but taking PLTW courses gave me a new understanding, related discovering the beauty of the human condition through Vergil to studying the human body. Wrote activity essay about crew.
Interview: It went okay. My interviewer was kind of shy tbh and it only lasted about 30 mins.

I also have 2 of my dad’s friends who went to georgetown write letters of rec for me. They both sit on the board of trustees, I hope that helps.
