Personally, if he was to go to Poli Sci and non math.science he would need more EC and leadership.

I live in CA and I know that they do not really consider EC’s and focus strictly on GPA.
I think there would a be a good place for your son at UCSD (San Diego)!
My sister went there for PoliSci and she got 2 job offers straight away.

Plus its in a really rich neighborhood, La Jolla, and the beach is close! Your son would prob wont miss home since its kind of Florida-like right?

Huh? I had similar stats and I got in, but I did have more EC’s.

Nothing wrong with applying if he wants to come. However, the one thing I have learned is that you can’t expect anything and there may be unexpected surprises / disappointments…

The UC essays are the same for any UC school. However, as far as I know, you have to pay for each application to a school. Hence an application to UC Berkeley does not mean you automatically apply to UCSD or UCI or UCLA.

Though there is one application, which you can complete online through UC’s website, you must pay $60 for each campus you are applying to.

EliK is messing with you. Your kid has stats within range. As with any “chance me” thread, there are no sure things, far from it. A lot will have to do with his major, and a lot will have to do with how well he presents his limited EC’s (did he win awards?)

Dont believe chance threads, or people that respond to them.(Me included). Do your research, look at the range for the school, and then help your student pick a few colleges where there is a decent ‘fit’. After that, only the Adcomm knows the ‘chance’.
