Chance of acceptance at Penn State University Park

I am a white male living in New York
I have a 3.7881 GPA (almost 3.8)
My SAT is Math 530 Writing 570 Reading 480 (1010/1600) (1580/2400)
I am in the top 12% of my class
Class rank: approx 40/368
ACT-21

I will have taken 9 AP/IB/Honors courses by the end of senior year

I play lacrosse and this year (senior year) will be my 4th year. I do a lot of church activities such as delivering flowers to the elderly homes on holidays). I have participated in the thanksgiving dinner at my school for the elderly and poor (setting up and what not), fundraisers for lacrosse, spanish club for 2 years. My work experience is well, I have had 3 jobs, one was in the summer where I worked 30hrs a week.
Got my applications in early before the deadline (applied about october 9th, had my transcript in by october 23rd)

Do I have a good chance? and when will I find out?

It will be a reach. While your class rigor and GPA are good, scores are ranked very important [C. Freshman Admission](http://www.budget.psu.edu/CDS/FreshmanAdm.asp?Location=UP&AY=20082009) and you are below the 25%ile in both.

Thanks
So Im thinking mostlikely a denial but I dont want to give up hope
possible waitlist?
I did apply that I would start in the summer if I had to
Im not sure if that helps, also I applied as undeclared.

Well your out of state so thats definately going to decrease your chances of admission ( I think). Are you applying as need for financial aid or full paying? You also have a rigious schedule… If you were in-state and had a higher test score I would say your very likely to be admitted.

I will be fully-paying (yes very expensive considering I am out of state). I did hear that undeclared gives me a better chance than if I were to apply for a different major…
