Chance of acceptance to NYU's Tisch...?

Hello, I’m a 17 year old senior in high school in Queens, nyc.
I’ve been extremely interested in staying in my beloved city for college, and NYU’s Tisch is definitely my first choice. I’m applying for the cinema studies program, something I’ve been absorbed in since middle school.

Since NYU is a prestigious school, in my opinion, I’m not worried about my portfolio, but my semi-mediocre grades. I’ll list my GPA, SAT scores, and other information below. Based off the grades, do you personally believe I have a chance in getting accepted into the program?

GPA: 82
SAT: 1073
I’ve taken two and a half english cinema courses in high school, which included directing a short film.
My sister, with a BFA and MPS is helping me by reviewing my two essays (the portfolio).
I’m working my a** off on these essays since I’m aware of how subpar my grades are. I do know my skills as a writer and story-telling are outstanding, having a 98 in English for junior year and being complimented consistently on my writing by teachers. English itself has always been my favorite course in school, but when it comes to other subjects like math or science, due to lack of interest and productivity, it brings my average and SAT scores down tremendously.

I’m only asking for honesty. College applications are extremely stressful especially now when most are due next month.
Thank you very much

Please help me out here

The average admitted student to NYU has a 90-95 GPA (3.6+), and a 1250-1480 on the SAT. Your stats are not even close. You have very little chance of being admitted, and if you were admitted, how will you pay the $55,000 a year in tuition plus other expenses? You can certainly try to get in and see what aid you are offered if admitted, but be sure to apply for some places where your GPA and SAT scores put you among the top or mid-range of admitted students to give you better odds of admission.

Hey, thank you for the reply
Im not worried about the money though it is a lot, I have college funds to cover it. My main worries are my grades since they could lower my chances more even after writing two spectacular essays. I’ve been doing research and students with grades around my mind have been admitted due to a good portfolio
I have a very small chance of getting in yet I’m taking my risks.
This determines my whole future so I’m really taking it seriously, dudes
All help is appreciated

It is always possible, but I would recommend you have a backup plan. You are way below the average on both, which is going to make it tough.
