who said i got a ticket? hypothetically, what if i got two but the cop showed neither time, do i just put nothing?

USNA appointees submit a police record check, so if there is a discrepancy between what you self report and the official police report, I assume youre TOAST!

"what if i got two . . . " "do i just put nothing?"

No.

DeepThroat

The page specifically states that you should put everything even in the case was thrown out or dimissed. But I still don't understand how to put it in a good way, it's a speeding ticket! Will this have any affect what so ever on admissions? My first offense, Ive already pased DOJ and FBI background investigations from my volunteering with the local Sheriff's Dept. O well....

I think it is a matter of honor and integrity, and suspect the Academy will concur. I was told by our BGO that they (USNA) do not expect perfection in all things, but want candidates to learn from their mistakes. So you tell them that you were ticketed for speeding, the charge was reduced (if it was) to a parking violation or whatever, or if it wasn't, that you paid a fine. And then don't get another one!!

You are not the first candidate to speed, or the last one. Think of this as a test of your honesty. If you lie about a little thing like a speeding ticket, what will you do about a big thing, like knowing someone has cheated on a test??

Good luck,
CM

He said the cop showed neither time. I take this to mean he took it to court and the cop didn't bother to show up either time. If this is the case he should not list either ticket on the application.

I disagree, a background check will show these infractions, whether the officer showed up to court or not. You still broke the law, just becasue you weren't proven guilty doesn't mean that they erase the incident, that case number and citation stays there regradless, but will read DISMISSED. This goes along with the integrity issue. Just my 2 cents...

ZN-
Where did you get that information? I do not think that those infractions would be on his driving record.

they were both dismissed, but im going to put them down anyways, if anything it will atleast show them that i have integrity. im sure there are others that have been caught speeding, bfd

If know anyone that does background checks for people, ask them about tickets. Anything that you are written up for, citation/feild interview/misemenor is in some sort of record, and the academies WILL get ahold of it whether you like it or not. I'm an explorer with my sherriff's dept. and I had to explain a feild interview that I recieved at a carnival 4 years before, I also had DOJ and FBI checks. If the academy cares about their midshipmen they will do the best to screen them. My uncle was a graduate from USNA, and my mom remebers everything they did, she thinks they tapped the phones, WOW. But just for the sake of doing it, I would fess up to the tickets. Im not trying to offend anyone but like CM was saying fess up now, or pay the consequences a few months from now. I apoligize for my tone, but I do know that anything with your name on it that a peace officer takes with him stays on record and can be accesed by USNA/DOD/DOJ/ whoever does the check.

RE: teacher recommendations and application forms
My son provided the teachers name/e-mail and a form was emailed immediately to the teachers. They got them before he was even able to advise them it was coming. He thinks that the teachers fill out the form online and submit. Apprently, one of his teachers received and completed in the same day so I suppose that is how it works. He doesn't know what questions etc were on it though. If it works this easily, that will be a way to get these done before summer vacation and the teachers are gone!
