Chance of getting in? +Question at bottom

Hi, I am applying to this school and I was wondering on what my chance of getting in was.

-Class Rank: Close to top 10%
-Total GPA: Weighted 3.91, UW 3.44
-SAT Score: 1740, 1760 super score
Has taken 10 AP classes, will be taking an extra AP test (self study) this year. Average grades.
-Ethnicity: Asian
-Leadership positions: President of a small club, previous Key club 11th grade representative, Key Club Service coordinator, previous Red Cross Health and Safety representative.
-Others: Science Olympiad, Science Bowl, and Solar boat. I spend about 7-10 hours per school week on these, and spend about an extra 5-12 hours on my own time studying/building for these events.
-Have about 300 hours of volunteering hours

Will be submitting a fairly good teacher letter of recommendation and my supplementary essay. Also might be submitting a resume, if the admissions office allows me to do so.

--
Also, I received straight A's in all my classes (5 AP classes) except AP Calculus and AP Stats. I scored a C and a D (during my senior year) because I had accidentally overloaded myself with work. Would this decrease my chances of getting in as a Computer Science major, and if so, should I change my major?

Thank you for your time!

What scores did you get on your AP exams?

Why would you want to change your major? You want to study and pursue that which you are passionate about. If you want to study CS, then do that. You may have really good luck by going to a community college and strengthening your math skills and get some background in CS to bring into Pitt as a transfer.

So far, I have only scored a 4 on my AP biology exam and 2’s on the other 4.

In response to your question, I plan to double major (if possible) in Computer science and biology, but I am more interested in CS.

Your SAT is on the low side- what is the break down of Math + CR?

The fact that you have a C and a D on your transcript will not look good. The general rule I was told is that one C is acceptable to a college (bad teacher, bad class, whatever reason), but more than that is not a good sign.

The fact that you have not been scoring well on your AP tests also seems to be an issue-- if you are not doing well on the exams, why do you keep taking more APs?

For CS/Bio, Pitt will want to see a strong math/science background. Based on what you’ve shown so far…that doesn’t seem to be the case.

My guess is that you’ll get offered a branch campus.

I think he/she is borderline. Getting the SAT up a tad would be helpful (CR+M to 1200) to overcome those bad classes. Applying early also helps. This student certainly doesn’t have to indicate that they are going for CS/Bio. They can always declare that later. They just have to get into the School of Arts & Sciences, and even if they are in the bottom quarter of admits, those admits still get in. I think he or she probably gets in, perhaps gets deferred at first, but would be served well by finishing high school strong and maybe taking the SAT/ACT once more.
