Hello, this is my first post on this forums. I did somewhat poorly freshman year with a 3.35 gpa unweighted. I took honors Earth science that year and it brought my grade down. I currently am in my softmore year with a 3.7 unweighted gpa. I am taking AP biology, Honors Geometry, and Honors Mandarin II. I plan to take Honors Introduction to business next semester. I currently go to a gold medal school in Massachusetts. I am planning on becoming an Eagle scout and I have played piano for 6 years, but stopped playing in 8th grade. I've been camping, hiking and snowboarding in New Hampshire since I was extremely young. As a result of my time spent in New Hampshire and my interest in the outdoors I have decided that Dartmouth would be the school for me. I plan on reaching atleast a 3.8 unweighted gpa junior and senior year. I also plan on taking Ap U.S history as well as continuing the advanced courses I am currently taking. Senior Year I plan on taking AP Economics. My school does not do weighted gpa and class rank; but using an online calculator i currently have a 4.2 weighted gpa. Although I am an Asian and i have a poor freshman GPA, do I have a chance of getting in, assuming that I get a good SAT score?

Also I have 40 hours of mandatory community service.

Dartmouth knows that grading policies are different from school to school, so getting a “low” GPA at a good/great school won’t hurt you as much as you think.

With that said, I think you have a good chance at being admitted to D.
You still have time to engage in EC’s that match your interests and to raise your GPA and get good SAT scores.

I just want to caution you to not to fall in love with one college though.
It really crushes people when they get rejected and I don’t want you to be one of those people!
Explore other great schools and know that you will have a great college experience and future even if the college you go to isn’t Dartmouth!

Best of luck!

Ok thanks alot!
