I have an 1800 SAT score (580 reading and math and 640 writing) and a 2.8 cumulative GPA, but this was because I had awful grades freshman year. I had alot of things going on that my counselor included in his recommendation letter, but I still had a 2.0 gpa freshman year and was receiving ds and failed one class. My transcript show an upward sloping trend of my grades, and I have a 3.33 cumulative gpa for junior year, and am sending my senior year grades, which are all A minuses except for one B+. I have also been active in Habitat For Humanity, have employment experience, participated in a program that helps teach kids about reading/writing at my local library, and raised $2000 for illiterate Malawians and built a school for them through BuildOn. Do I have a chance even though my cumulative GPA is bad?

The colleges you mention are not hazy about their admissions criteria. Frankly call them up, share with them your scores and ask them up front: “I’m hoping to be admitted to your school. Are these good enough to be offered admission?”

They’ll tell you – they solely admit based on a formula. UConn may be a stretch but you never know. Good luck

They won’t tell you over the phone. My god ignore advice on this site that tells you a school will let a high school kid call and ask will you admit me? The admission process is there for a reason don’t use this blog to ask people it will mislead you.
