Chance of getting into UF or FSU

Hello. It would be awesome if you could help me! I have a fairly complicated situation and would like some input.

Right now I'm attending a highschool in Florida (senior year) and will be applying to the UF and FSU for engineering. However, I spent my entire education in Canada, under a completely different education system. Therefore, I have very few AP or honors classes and only one year of foreign language (only one year of high school French required).

As well, the school I am attending now is not at all competitive (I will be graduating with a class of around 10, of which just a few want a college degree), and has a very poor course selection. The science courses at the school are a joke and thus I have to take all of them at a Community College nearby. I am also taking AP Calculus in virtual school.

I have yet to take my SATs since I have only been here for one year and the SAT is not used in Canada. I have however taken the PSAT.

Anyways, here are my stats:

GPA: 3.8 (u/w)
GPA: 4.0 (w) (I think)

Class Rank: 1/10 ( I AM the top 10%)

PSAT : 65 M, 64 CR, 65 W
SAT: Plan to get 700 in each

SAT IIs:
Biology: 760
Chemistry: Taking soon
Physics: Taking soon

Honors courses:
Honors Algebra II A
Honors English II A
Honors English III A
Honors US Histroy A

AP Courses:
AP Calculus AB A
AP Literature A
Chemistry (Dual-Credit and being weighted as AP) A
Physics (Dual-Credit and being weighted as AP) A
Biology (Dual-Credit and being weighted as AP) A

Extra-Curriculars
-Organized events for a youth run drug education group (Will have been two years)
-Spokesperson for a youth run group educating other youth in Human Rights (Three years)
-Varsity Football team (1 year) (Will likely win state championship)
-Videographer at School Events (Two years)
-Vice-president of Student Council (1 year)

There are other things but this is the most significant

I hope I provided enough information. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

If your SAT scores are similar/better than your PSAT, you should have a decent shot at both. It all depends on how they view your first 3 years of schooling. You also really need to hurry up and take the SAT because the second admissions cycle is always the tougher at Florida Public Universities since most of the admissions are on a "first come, first serve" basis. One year seems like plenty of time to take a 4 hour test though.....

How is your graduating class 10, yet you have enough people for a state championship football team?

Just realized, you've taken your SAT II's but not the SAT I? SAT II's aren't required (I don't think considered either) at both of these schools.

Heh...well it's 6-man football (I try to ignore that fact) and it's got a mix of players from freshman to senior. It makes up roughly 16 players.

As for the SATs. I hadn't taken it since I wasn't considering going to any American colleges until recently (I realize I'm very late). My top choices will still be Canadian schools but I figured I might as well try here.

Any idea as to what I should do about my language credit? Seeing as the school doesn't actually offer any languages.

Thank you very much for the reply!

Well, you'll probably have to take an online course so you'll end up with 2 years of French. I'm not sure if it's like this all over the nation, but in Florida it's required to take 2 years of the same foreign language.

I'd recommend emailing someone from admissions at the schools to clarify what you need to do to have the best shot at acceptance.

Ok, thanks. I'll look for some courses. Does anyone else have some input?

pretty sure you're in at both...DEFINITELY in at FSU. Remember that even UF has something like a 44% acceptance rate, it's not tough. With a 700 in all 3 sections of the SAT, you're way above average there.

Cool. Well that makes me feel more confident...and my EC's and courseload are fine? Having taken only one AP course? Thanks for replying btw.
