chance of me getting In the U OF M

<p>Hey I am a senior this year and well I have loved the U of M for a long time and want to go there to get into there science and engineering college in the twin cities but u don't know if i should even bother applying because of my low GPA and ACT score it is a 3.29 and a 19 in ACT but i have a large amount of other things too
-Taking AP Calculus</p>

<p>-Started the Science fair in my School</p>

<p>-have been working in geek Squad Freshmen Year </p>

<p>-sophomore year i was in Ryan companies working on there website and uploading things too it</p>

<p>-Junior Year i worked at the science Museum and was in charge of the Preschool Play-date program there for a year</p>

<p>-And this Year Medtronic asked if i wanted to work with them over the summer and now i am working with them now still throughout my school year and i am part of there CI group as a project engineering </p>

<p>-All these Jobs have given me a large amount of science and Engineering experience </p>

<p>-i love to build things</p>

<p>-Built my own IPhone 4s</p>

<p>-I am teaching Sunday confirmation classes at my church for 4 years and i volunteer at school when i can </p>

<p>-Helped start Year book and newspaper club</p>

<p>-know Spotfire, Visio, AutoCad, Solidworks, Microsoft apps Like word...etc.</p>

<p>-I have about 800 hours in volunteering
And well i want to know what do you guys think?</p>

<p>Andy: Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but if you apply to the College of Science and Engineering (CSE), you will not be admitted based on your GPA and ACT scores alone. Your extracurricular activity would not affect the decision.</p>

<p>The qualifications for admission to CSE are high. Last year’s CSE freshman class profile included these statistics:
99.5% graduated in the top 25 percent of their high school class
75.3% graduated in the top 10 percent of their high school class
30.8 average ACT score</p>

<p>Your best bet might be to attend another school for a couple of years, get great grades in STEM courses, and apply to UMN as a transfer student.</p>

<p>99.5% of what will be looked at is your ACT and GPA. Other stuff only gets looked at if you are really really close to getting in. Your ACT needs to improve at least 11 points to have a chance.</p>

<p>Honestly, CSE is so competitive. You would have to constantly be studying to have a chance with the students here.</p>
