Is it safe to assume that if you have a 3.7 GPA, AP courses, etc. and a 1870 SAT, they’ll go on the SAT score only? Some students are lopsided and they must have a way of leveling that out.

You have to have BOTH the minimum test score AND the minimum GPA to qualify for the merit scholarships listed in the link posted above. The SAT score alone will not qualify you. You have to also have the GPA.

For instance, right now you say that you have a 3.7 GPA with an 1870 SAT. As of now, you would probably qualify for the $8,000/yr scholarship. Do you see what I mean? You have to have both parts of the equation to meet the minimum to qualify for a merit scholarship. It may not be set in stone–they might consider a little bit of leeway but based on what we were told, it’s important to meet BOTH parts (GPA and Test Score).

Presidential Scholarship 4.0 GPA 2050 SAT
31 ACT $12,000

Presidential Scholarship 3.6 GPA 1950 SAT
29 ACT $10,000

Marist College Scholarship 3.3 GPA 1800 SAT
27 ACT $8,000

Another example: b216 poster above has an ACT 0f 31 AND a GPA of 92.2 so he may be looking at the Presidential Scholarship of $12,000/yr. He has both the ACT and GPA to meet the minimum to qualify for the Presidential Scholarship.

I would love to visit this summer, but they only have Mon-Fri and I have mainly weekends off. We will be sure if I can’t coordinate to visit in September though when they have more days. My daughters might get a better feel of the campus with students there and I know in the Fall, it must be gorgeous.

Parent100, I’m sorry I was mistaken. I saw a form to prove a sibling attended the school, but they told me that was just for fafsa puposes, there isn’t a specific twin or siblingdiscount. I also talked to a student who had a sibling there but she said the discount was just having 2 in college for her, not a discount through the school itself. Oh well, there are other schools though that do.
