Bump

Bump

OK, I’ll give this a shot-
-Cornell … AEM (originally deferred ED) Low reach
-UVA … CAS (originally deferred EA) Low reach
-UNC … Kenan Flagler (originally deferred EA) Match
-Upenn… CAS Reach
-Brown… CAS Reach
-Georgetown… McDonough low reach
-Boston College… Carroll Match

As an OOS student to UVA and UNC, you have a chance, but it is iffy from out of state. I think UNC may be possible, but it is not a direct admit to Kenan Flagler. Students have to apply sophomore year so it isn’t guaranteed. If you are a direct admit into another business school, then this will factor into your choices.

I know you know that these chance threads are educated guesses at best. All of these schools have more qualified applicants than they can take. The good news is that you are already accepted at some fine schools. Now, it’s just a wait.

Thank so much. I wasn’t aware of the UNC sophomore admit plan for Kenan Flagler so I guess we’ll see what happens there haha. I’m aware that most of the other schools are relatively reach-intensive so just 1-2 would be a success for me. But yes, you’re right, there’s nothing more I can do- “it’s just a wait.”

You have to apply to the UNC business school from UNC, and they only take who they select, so being accepted to UNC is not a guarantee. I think this year some applicants admitted were offered acceptance as part of an admission to the honors program. Not sure of the details on that one.
It’s a tough wait. Hopefully you’ll get good news. You’re in a good place with the admissions you have as well.

@Pennylane2011 I just checked how I applied and I only listed economics; so I’m assuming that’s arts and sciences economics. I guess I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself. hahah

Other chances welcome!

All freshmen are admitted to Arts and Sciences, so yes, but nothing wrong with thinking ahead. If you are admitted directly into another business school though, that would be a factor in choosing where to go, as one is guaranteed ( if you do well) while UNC is not.

Bump

Congratulations on being accepted to your safeties, and you’re a great student, clearly!
In my opinion,

UVA - Middle Match [you should be able to get in]
UNC - Low Match
Georgetown - Reach
Boston College - Low Match
Cornell - Reach [but when they look over you again, I think you have a decent chance of getting in]
UPenn - Reach
Brown - Reach

Good luck! Will you chance me back, please?

All ivies are reaches, no matter how good your stats are. They are just too unpredictable to be definite matches.
You will probably get in UVA, Boston College, and Georgetown. UNC is a bit iffy since it’s harder for OOS people to get in, though I believe you will get in, you’re a very rounded student.

Chance back please

Thanks so much. I chance’d both of you back.

Bump

Ivys are a reach, but you have a good chance at the other institutions. Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1621138-chance-me-for-highly-selective-schools-will-chance-back-promise.html#latest

Chanced you back. Thanks!

You have awesome test scores, GPA, and ECs but the only thing I see missing is some sort of hook, especially for a white male. I definitely think you have a chance at all of these though!! Penn and Brown are both reaches (they are for everyone) but I think you have a chance.
Cornell - reach
UVA - low reach/high match
UNC - low reach (they have a crazy out of state acceptance rate)
UPenn - reach
Brown - reach
Georgetown - low reach
Boston College - match

Thanks! Chance’d both of you back.

applicant:
I’m puzzled over how and why you’re putting so much faith into these “chance me” replies.
Please search for the topics discussing all the problems with chance me threads.

Take any college you applied to and you’ll find some getting rejected with stats much higher than yours, and some getting accepted with lower stats. The only ones who can provide meaningful chances are the adcoms at the time they’re considering your application - in the context of all the peer applicants you’re competing with.

@jpm50 I’m curious as to why you might select me out of the bunch of threads to say this. But, I’ll try to formulate a response that backs my (albeit strange) reasoning.

I use forums like this and websites like college pr0wler almost as a form of comfort for my ‘up in the air’ feeling that I get in the coming months before a decision. For some, it’s also a form of validation that can allow them to feel as though they chose the right schools for their major. Personally, I wanted to know that I chose a spectrum of schools that I feel can test me as an applicant (from a ‘difficulty of admissions’ perspective) and can allow me to succeed later on in life (wherever I end up). Especially now that all of my supplementary materials are sent, I feel like this is just another way I can involve myself in the college admissions process- something that has sincerely interested me since I began early in my junior year. I’m well aware that a match doesn’t always correlate into an acceptance and that a reach doesn’t always mean a rejection. However, the objectivity of an anonymous member of this forum gives perspective and, to a degree, reassurance that I did the right thing by applying. I’m well aware that there are other online resources with purely statistical averages. However, they don’t offer the opportunity to get feedback from existing students of the college(s) that I am applying to. Sometimes, in past chance threads or other conversations in threads like these, I actually learn something I didn’t know- something that I gain from a student perspective and not from an official college data set.

That’s probably the best answer that I can give. I know the ‘chance me’ system is flawed and that people don’t know what they’re talking about some of the time. However, it’s not harmful to me in anyway and an objective perspective of other students in my position can keep me from losing my mind in the weeks (or even months) prior to decision time. I hope that justifies my actions a bit.

Now, on a different yet not unrelated note, Bump.

Cornell - low reach
UVA - high match
UNC - high match (OOS is really difficult)
UPenn - reach
Brown - reach
Georgetown - low reach
Boston College - match
Chance back please
