High school online newspaper won the NSPA national Pacemaker award for high school newspapers while I was a staff writer. Pacemaker finalist my junior year. Featured on the High School Journalism "National Edition" junior year for a published article (meaning I have an article published on a national medium, and many published pieces of writing on my high school's online and print edition newspapers). One of my articles recieved Honorable Mention at the NSPA competition.</p>

<p>Essay: Very good essay</p>

<p>I think you have a better than 50/50 chance. Your GPA is definitely pulling you down, but you show great improvement going from a B- to an A average over the past few years. And even with the bad freshman year, you're not that far from the average for SCU's enrolled students (3.5).</p>

<p>Your standardized test scores are excellent for SCU, putting you near the top 25%. And SCU's decision process is very holistic so the varsity sports and journalism ECs, good refs and essay will also help you out.</p>

<p>Did you apply early app? If so, will you let me know when you hear from them?</p>
