<p>Korean residing in China (it has been 13yrs so I am confident with Chinese and I do not lack a perfect command with my mother tongue)</p>

AP Comp. Gov: 4, AP Calc BC: 5, AP Eco. Micro+Macro: Planned
SAT: Math 780, CR 620, W 620 (2020/2400)
SATII: MathII 760, Chemsitry 670</p>

<p>GPA: 3.84/4.00</p>

<p>Classes Taken:
English(just says "english" in my school transcripts) 4yrs, Science 4yrs(Physical Science, Chemistry, Biology, Physics), Math 4yrs(Algebra, Geometry, Pre-cal, AP Calc), Social Studies 4yrs(Geography, Modern World History, AP Comp. Gov, AP. Economics[Online]), Philosophy(Its just written as "philosophy" in my school transcript) 4yrs, Chinese 4yrs,
(Not many believes but our school is really new and small, private school. The ones mentioned are every classes I could possibly have taken, we don't have Economics so I'm taking online courses), </p>

<p>EC:
Varsity soccer 4yrs, varsity basketball 4yrs, varsity volleyball 4yrs, Newspaper(general editor) 2yrs, Chess club 1yr, Theology study group 3yrs, Classical Literature group 1yr,
High school vocal choir 2yrs, Math club 1yr</p>

<p>Really weak Volunteer activities (since where I live in does not have anything to do, Chinese prisoners are used for labor and other works):
30hrs through going to orphanage and helping out chinese local schools</p>

<p>Do you think I have a chance with CMU (Materials Science and Engineering) as a ED II applicant?</p>

<p>Definitely use the essay to explain your lack of volunteering. Have you taken the ACT? I'm not very familiar with international acceptance so I can't really say.</p>

however, ur lacking major commitment, not saying that you don't have a hefty commitment list, but like nothing EC over 4 years. I guess thats really good and you can't really change it so this phrase was pointless....
being an international student hurts chances though</p>

<p>rofl holytruth are you blind. 4 years of 3 varsity sports (even if its a new school) is a huge commitment. sports take up so much time</p>

<p>yeah playing 3 varsity sports year round all of high school is very hard to do. i do that in running but regular team sports its much harder!!</p>

<p>I think you have a good chance. Just fyi, a 760 Math II is probably on the low end of CMU engineers (who probably make 800s, for the most part).</p>

<p>Otherwise you GPA and ECs looks good!</p>

<p>I impressed with your sports but again you are an international applicant so that will make it tough for you. If you can get across in the essay that you can really make a contribution to American schools I would say you have a great chance!</p>
