Hook? Sister in the school and doing very well.

No offense, but you are all being ridiculous. If you have an SAT score over 2300 and a 4.0 unweighted GPA, you obviously have a great shot at any school that you apply to.

If you have to fish for compliments, save it for your Twitter feed, not CC.

@Vivian707: Amen. Yet, colleges like these regularly reject such applicants, so I do see some sense in their posting here. Plus we’re all human, who doesn’t like a bit of flattery?

You guys are all going to do really well. Maybe you won’t get into your first choice, whether that is Columbia or some other top university. If that happens, you’ll have other good choices if you submitted applications to many other schools (which you are doing, right??). And you will be happy wherever you end up – most people are.

LOL @vivian707, I totally get what you’re saying. I like how some of these posters are adding, “Gosh, everyone’s so good and I feel so inferior…” to their posts while having 2300+ SATs, 800 SAT II’s, 4.0’s, etc. themselves. =.= The academic quality of CC’ers is ridiculous…

Wow now I look so small now… Haha you guys are really competitive applicants. I’m an international applicant (small private in the rural) to Fu Foundation Engineering.

GPA: 3.82 UW (no rankings in my school - perhaps in the top 25%)
SAT: 2280 composite (is this too low?)
SAT 2: Math2C 800 / Physics 800 / Chem 770
AP Psychology 5

AP Chemistry 4
AP Music Theory 5 (aural/nonaural subscores both 5)
AP Calculus BC 5

AP courses: Psychology, English Language, Statistics, US History, Physics B, Chemistry, Statistics, Calculus BC
Eight not too much… Do you think taking college level courses like linear algebra could compensate this?

ECs, in my opinion, cannot be compared to others (definitely not that mine is better - in fact others’ EC seems just amazing) simply because I had very different chances. (ex - USAMO qualifier but never can participate in it - since I’m not a US citizen…) The most worried matter in my application is my GPA, SAT score and relatively small number of AP. Do you think this might hurt me badly?

I applied ED to Columbia SEAS but am wondering what my Chances to get in are.
