Hi, I'm currently attending a state school in Massachusetts that is somewhat gaining academic notoriety, albeit slowly. I'm a freshman Journalism major looking to transfer for my Soph year. I'm going all out with applying, lol. Reach: Brown, Barnard. However, I'm not sure about the rest: Sarah Lawrence, Emerson, and Pratt. The reason I'm asking is I applied to these schools last year along with some others, but didn't get into any of them.

HS Stats:
School: A top magnet school in NYC.
GPA: 3.6 unweighted
SAT: 1990
Extracurriculars: Interned at 17 Magazine for two years, editor of poetry section of my school's student run art mag, published in Teen Ink, member of National BETA society (an honors and service club), volunteer for the organization Behind the Book for 3 years, Cheerleading 1 year.

College Stats:

Course load:
-1st Semester: Journalism 201, Journalism 197, French 110, Soc 106, Soc 110
(And here's the problem: I'm scared they'll look at my course work and not approve. For my first semester, my advisor was very focused of fulfilling my major's requirements.)
-2nd Semester: Stats 111, Anthro 103, Eng 132, History 101, French 120
ECs: Published in school's newspaper, Intern at a new social networking site, member of the Know Your Rights initiative to educate students about their constitutional rights. Looking to get involved in the women's support center on campus.
