Chancellor

Does anyone know when the Chancellor

Let's try this again...Does anyone know when the Chancellor

Maybe third time's the charm?

Does anyone know when the Chacellors scholarship decsions will be made? Also, does anyone know anyone who's ever won one?

A student from D's high school won a Chancellor's Scholarship last year. She is the real deal with academic talent coupled with musical talent and some strong extracurricular involvement in academic competitions and participation on tennis team. She knew at least a week or two before decisions were mailed. She was invited to a campus preview activity for minority students that is held each year in March, but I'm not sure if all finalists are informed early. I believe she was informed shortly after attending the campus visit which is not too far off from the mailing of all decisions at the end of March. While Vanderbilt is generous with financial aid and with partial scholarships, very few students receive full scholarships with no financial need. Obviously additional financial needs can be met through financial aid, outside scholarships such as NM, etc. D's friend was accepted at Duke and similar schools, but chose Vanderbilt largely due to this award and to proximity to home. These awards are great recruiting tools for Vanderbilt since those recipients are highly coveted students.

Would you by chance know the girls stats...was she a valedictorian type or a solid A/B student with high test scores. Obviously I am being so particular because I'm trying to figure out where I stand. Also, do they look primarily for minority students?

I am not sure of class rank, but would say top 3 in class. I think it's safe to say your stats would have to put you in the top 1-2% of all Vanderbilt applicants. I don't know if they look for mostly minority applicants for the Chancellor's award, but they do court the strongest minority applicants by inviting them on campus for Mosaic weekend, which I believe is held in early-mid March.
