@coconutproponent Do you mind sharing stats? I’m generally in the same area, so hopefully this means I’ll get a packet tomorrow!
@IneffableMind Nothing yet, but it seems like it should be a promo email unless it’s related to the reception.
@ruetherford Sure! My UC GPA is 4.41 weighted and my UC UW is 3.95 and my ACT is 34. My EC’s are a little above average I guess… I thought my personal statements were decent!
That sounds very positive @IneffableMind. It’s crazy how there doesn’t seem any rhyme or reason on who gets what.
I doubt it’s a promo email, here’s pics of it. Replace the (dot) with a period.

So weird…I never got that email hmm
No email for me yet. Would they send them out in waves?
I just received a “preliminary notification of admission” to UCSB via email. The email also stated, “Our formal admissions decisions will be posted online through the UCSB Application Status portal, so make sure to check your application status on March 22, 2016 after 3 p.m. PST for more details as well as additional financial aid information.” Good luck to all!
@SD2020 if you dont get the email, is it safe to assume you didnt get regents
I got the email confirming my Regent’s acceptance at about noon today. I got the paper mail yesterday though.
@crossovercuber: I’m not sure about the timing but I also received a Regent’s certificate in the mail last weekend. There is also a Chancellor’s reception - were you invited to this?
@SD2020 neither so i am just curious to see if getting no email means i shouldn’t be expecting anything in the mail
I received the chancellor’s reception ~10 days after people first started receiving them. It was postmarked Feb 19th. Anyone else in a similar situation?
Still with no emails.
Idk know what mine was postmarked, but I did get the chancellor’s reception invitation and have not received any emails from UCSB recently Maybe only people that RSVP’ed to the receptions stated getting promo emails? @ruetherford
@jackisawesome I RSVP’d and got a conformation email. Both of the emails mentioned seem to be for those invited, since the first reception is on Saturday and the cat will officially be out of the bag by then, but it could possibly be for Regents since they are getting the packets. The snail mail is super weird, though. Does anyone know if they send OOS first? I live near Sacramento (in-state) and got my invite weeks after people first received them.
@ruetherford Aren’t you CCS? If so, I’d suspect the delay may have had to do with them finishing reviewing the CCS applications. The CCS department runs in it’s own little world, on its own time. And I mean that in the best sense.
I got a email saying that I was selected for Regents today 12:41 PM PST also!

There doesn’t seem to be a pattern. Below has been my experience:
- received a chancellor reception invite 2/22 - no mention of college acceptance or Regents
- received a nice official Regents certificate on 2/27 confirming the Regents award. But, no official college acceptance
- Today, received an email congratulating me on being a Regents scholar with an unofficial (or as they stated, preliminary) college acceptance.
I just can’t understand why they need to let it drag. It seems easier to flat out tell you if you’re accepted or not.
Berkeley got it right - they let you know from the start you’ve been accepted and then let you know you can interview for Regents. Irvine is even better - they tell you in one shot if you’ve been accepted and a regents scholar.
I 100% agree with you @SD2020 I think they do it because there are occasional mistakes that occur. For example, I have heard of people getting accepted to Regents, but not to the university. While this is VERY rare, it occasionally does occur.
Did anyone else receive the “Meet Your UCSB Counselor” email yesterday? Is it a good sign?
I received email today from my admission counselor
