Chances after UPenn deferral

I got deferred. I sent them a well-written letter and had my friend from Wharton write me an evaluation. My grades for first and second semester are listed below:

AP Bio: 1st-99, 2nd-99, midterm-100
AP Calculus: 1st-93, 2nd-93, midterm-91
English: 1st-93, 2nd-97, midterm-98
Environmental Science: 1st-99, 2nd-97, midterm-99
A.P. Spanish: 1st-94, 2nd-97, midterm-97

I improved overall in every class. I did decently on my midterms. I also think I got a good rec from my guidance counsellors. I retook the SAT II's in January and had them rushed. My old math 2c was 710; I retook 800. I also took Spanish for the first time and got 740. This changed from SAT II average from 700 to 750. I have a 750-m, 750-v SAT I. Any idea on my chances for acceptance after being deferred in December? Also, idk if this is a big deal but I'm from NJ. I'm white. So I don't really have geography or ethnicity working for me in admissions.

Some more things about me:

EC's:
Student Government Association: 12
Student Council: 10,11
Varsity XC: 9-12
Varsity Tennis: 11-12

Worked as counsellor

Rank: School is one of top in NJ but doesn't rank. Still, I have been told I am in top 3-5%

SAT's again:
SAT I: 1500
SAT II: 800 Math IIC, 740 Spanish, 700 Writing, 690 Physics (ew)

Schools: UPenn (after deferral ED), Cornell, Tufts, Brown, Duke, Emory, Bucknell, Colgate, GW med program, Union/AMC med program

I'm sooo anxious. Any feedback would be AMAZING. Thanks so much.

aiiiight. U r going to the top. And I am going to Jamaica Queens CC. Seriously tho, Idk why they deferred you in the first place. I do know they rejected me as fast as Game got kicked outta G-Unit, but its all good. Ur in reaal hard RD.

the math boost is really big, so I think you have a pretty good chance at Wharton

(though Wharton is much harder than Engineering/College, for which I would say you have a really good chance)

yeah he's applying to College, so yeah like I said great chance

did you watch the MTV sway interview with 50 cent.

just curious, i'm watching it reply right now while at work

naaah wut happened?

thethoughtprocess: thanks for your input. i actually applied to the college.

Did your rank go up too?

Sorry, I saw Wharton in your first few lines and assumed you were applying there.

I applied to Engineering, but I think college and engineering are both relatively scores driven compared to Wharton (thats just what I've heard).

It pretty much stayed about the same, like top 3 kids of 65.

I cant believe you even got deferred. I would say you are in.

I don't know why people are saying "I can't believe you got deferred." There's nothing I can't believe about it; i bet almost half of the deferred students had better stats.

But with the improvements, I think you have a much better chance! Good luck

Thanks, shosta. Did you apply to Penn?

Regular Decision is always going to be harder to get into as opposed to ED. So, with that said, your chances for admission under Regular Decision is going to be more competitive and "cut throat" than ED. However, you still have a shot of getting in because they deferred you as opposed to rejecting you under ED. Stay in there because you never know.

Please respond. BUMP

I think you totally kept working hard and will get in. Penn's RD round apps didn't increase dramatically like some other places which should help you. You will also get into one of Brown or Duke hopefully. I would say Cornell is almost a lock.

Didn't Penn's RD round not get much harder?
or maybe I'm just hearing things

That's probably true. If their ED pool was "a record," its RD pool must also be sick. Slipper, you're the nicest kid ever. Thanks for your highly highly motivating comment, even if it's exaggerating to the umph degree.

top 3? hahaha

adam: its called grammer
sid: you are (almost) in but don't go to union. i will not let you.

tetty: you wrote that in fuculus class. in addition, you are an ivy-league goddess. thanks.
