Chances and Recommendations (JUNIOR =D ) 1st Post!

Hey, I'm new to this board and just wanted to get some opinions.

I'm currently a junior attending a large public high school in Florida, who suddenly realized college is coming >_<.

So I'm asking for some help in deciding where to go and how to get there.

I'm not sure what I want to do after college, but current interests are Medicine (asian parents) and Law (Probably more of the corporate kind)
Expecting to attend Med/Law School after College.

In any case, I want to be able to explore my interests in college and have some fun (not party school). Basically, not a restricting college like ITs. And preferably on the East Coast or Cali.

As of right now, I'm most interested in (or as interested as you can be after 3 weeks of looking lol):

Amherst
Princeton (fat chance)
Brown
University Of Mich (Lived there! )
University of Florida (more of a safety, or if I cant afford the others)
Stanford
Berkeley
Duke

Open to any and all suggestions. I'm planning college visits later this year, at least to the Northeast.

Current stats:

Unweighted GPA: 4.0

Class Rank: 1 (Planning to stay here, drop to 2 at most)

All Gifted (Honors) and AP except for required courses

AP Courses:

Taking a few courses at Community College this and next year

Preparing for SAT and SAT IIs.
Expecting 2250+ in SAT and above 700s in SAT IIs (Math II, Chinese, World History, Physics, US History, English this year).

3 Years of French (I in middle school, doesnt show up on transcript but should be evident with the French II and III in high school. AP wasnt offered this year)

Perfect scores on state standardized tests (lol)

Volunteering:

Planning to volunteer at Red Cross this entire year
Perhaps some hours at Town Hall this year
I have to babysit 2 siblings(6+7) every day, so not much free time

Sports:
Karate (started last year)
Planning to start Water Polo/Lacrosse this year
Again, siblings take up too much time =/

ECs(remember, only a junior):

places at regional and state levels, Historian this year
National Honor Society (11)

Not very impressive...planning on many more leadership positions next year

Published a poem in 2006 version of Celebration Florida

Oh and I'm Chinese btw (grrr Affirmative Action)

O and despite what my ECs show, I have no interest in becoming an engineer or heavily science related (besides a doctor), including in Computer Science

So yea, any suggestions on colleges and what I should be doing these years would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

wen2hu:

UCB: Match (out of state)

sorry, not that familiar with college abbrevs. What does UCB stand for?

UCB = Berkely

I think Duke is definitely doable as well. Maybe Stanford. I don't know much about the others.

hmmm thnx =)
