your chances are as good as anyone’s. it’ll end up coming down to your essays. make sure you apply to some matches and safeties that you love in addition to H, Y, etc. good luck!

^Why can’t an OP just post a chance thread? It is not hurting anyone if you don’t want to chance him/her then don’t. Btw the post you put above linked is very long almost no one will bother to read even half of it. Sure chance thread’s aren’t always accurate but it’s something no harm done.

And yes your chances are good! GPA is pretty good but you took rigorous classes so it’s fine! G luck!

^^ You can’t say the OP’s chances are “good” without reading the applicant’s teacher recommendations, guidance counselor’s report and essays – all items not posted by the OP. Unless the OP wishes to post those, the best that can be said is that s/he is a competitive applicant.

“The most important part of your application — bar none, no question, any college — is your high school transcript. Probably the next most important are your teacher recommendations, particularly if you’re applying to any kind of selective college or university.”

I agree with gibby on this one… OP, based on what you posted, you look to be a competitive applicant. You and most of the 30,000+ who apply though are competitive. With less than 7% actually getting accepted, your teacher recommendations and essays will be a major deciding factor on whether or not you get in.

Do you think you could be a recruited D1 athlete in track? If so, then your chances of getting in could increase substantially. Otherwise though, I can’t tell you much other than you look to be a competitive applicant and you should try applying.

On the HYP forums though, many longtime posters like me, who have helped their own children, and other students, successfully go through the college applications process, understand how selective college admissions works. From experience, we know saying “you have a good chance” is meaningless because we’ve seen hundreds of “good” students get rejected.
