Hi, I am a transfer from the University of Arizona, and I need to get out of here. I graduated in the top 3% of my HS class, and took a pretty heavy courseload. My only weakness is last semester senior year when I took a load off and got a few B's and a C, but your senior year doesn't factor into your class rank at my HS. But it'll still show on the transcript. I have decent EC's - I did band all through high school, got into regionals and all-state, and did choir for two years. I volunteered alot in NHS also and got about 100 hours. I got a 2160 on my SATs and a 5 on my APUSH and a 5 on my Calc AB AP tests (but a 1 on one random AP test that I entirely blew off, maybe I can find a way to just tell them about the two?) I am taking pretty hard classes at the UofA: Calc II Honors, English 103 honors, Chem, French 102, and two choirs. And I'm volunteering at the local hospital. I'm trying to transfer for spring 2007, so I'm not sure any grades will exist for any college classes by the time I submit my application in November...feedback is GREATLY appreciated.

What college will you be applying to?

CALS as a Chemistry/Biochemistry major.

What's your GPA at Arizona? CALS is one of the "easier" schools of Cornell to transfer into, so I'd say you've got a good chance coming from UofA. Have you been working on the requirements?

Hope that helps.

I'm a freshman in my first semester, and I'm applying for spring 2007, so I don't have a GPA yet, but I'm working really hard in case there's some sort of mid-year report. All of the required courses are in progress...except for biology. It says, "Students considering transfer to Cornell are required to complete a two-semester general biology sequence (Biology 1 and 2), including hands-on laboratories..." I have Chem, writing, calc, and everything else in progress, but I have not taken bio yet in college...do they expect me to be taking ALL of those right now as a freaking freshman? Will they let me do that during summer school between my freshman and sophomore year? It says "students considering transfer to Cornell ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE a bio..." does this mean I can take it there? Please help!

lol that's a good question I'd call and ask since I don't know many people that try and transfer before they have even gotten a college GPA yet. I'm pretty sure to be considered for transfer admission you have to have at least 30 credits...so...

yea, i would say you at least need a year of units under your belt, and you need to complete bio b4 u get there.

I'm transferring out of Cornell...I'd give you my place if I could! =P

The applications are due during March, which gives enough time for the Fall semester to finish and accumulate units.

Wondering about what's required to transfer to Cornell? This information is for you if:

You've already matriculated full-time at another institution and/or
You've graduated from high school and have earned 12 or more credits at another institution since graduation.

This is impossibly confusing.

If I finish Bio 1 during my spring semester and Bio 2 during the summer, do you think they'll frown upon that? Otherwise, all my requirements will be completed.

Also, what are my same chances of applying to NYU or Ithaca? I'm applying there too.

Lastly, if anyone could judge my reason for applying to Cornell: I wanted to apply there my entire academic career after visiting in grade school, but my dad wouldn't let me take out student loans so I was forced to go in-state. Now, he understands how badly I wanted to go and gave his blessing. Will Cornell empathize?

you have a good shot at nyu and ithaca. just curious, why do you want to transfer so badly?

I just don't enjoy state school and a lot of my friends went to school in New York.

If I have good chances at NYU and Ithaca, what do you think about Cornell?

finish with at least a 3.9 in college and you should be fine for cornell- cals. good luck.

btw..are you from NY? if so, you might want to consider looking into cornell's SUNY affiliation for the CALS school (tuition is a lot less).

its like $10,000+ cheaper
