Chances at a top ivy (so far)...

I'd like to know what my chances at the top ivies would be....namely Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, and Penn...

i am currently a junior and i havent taken the SATs or SAT IIs yet, so I know it may be hard to predict my chances...but if you can help me out anyway it would be nice....assume my SAT scores are minimum 2200

I am an Indian (subcontinent) male and my interests lie in international affairs and law...

I was the Sophomore Class President

Founder/President of Model United Nations at my school

I organized an independent service trip this past summer to India where i stayed for a month and helped teach English, played with kids, and installed computer games for previously abused street children in an orphanage-like group home. Prior to that, I organized a money and CD-rom collection in my school to donate and the money went towards donating a new computer. I might go again for 2 weeks during my spring break this year. (I think this is my HOOK, is it a good enough one?)

I am the managing Editor for my school's online newspaper, I will be editor-in-chief next year.

I am a student council representative and next year I will likely a student council co-President.

I take all honors courses possible, although I will not have accumulated many APs by the time I graduate b/c I go to a fairly small private school which doesn't offer many APs (does that matter?)

Straight A's, unweighted (3.9/4.0)

Spanish Honor Society inductee - sophomore year

I went to a Cambridge University summer program where I studied International Law and Medicine 2 years ago.

I play varsity tennis and was a JV soccer captain. I entered the winning movie at my school's 2nd Film Festival. I am also a member of the Outdoors Club.

I am a student representative for my school as a tour guide and student speaker during open houses.

I organized a charity basketball event within my school Freshman year to raise money for H4H.

I am in the top 5 students (academically) in my grade (class of about 70).

I have been nominated for Who's Who Among American High School Students.

My school selected me out of the junior and senior classes to apply for the United States Senate Youth Program (I'm not too sure if I'll get in though, 2 ppl get selected from each state in the country)

I'm from NJ (that prob hurts a little, right?)

I participated, at my school's request, in a one-day human relations youth forum called Manytown, last year.

Ok that is most of my resume I guess....I'm sorry it was long, but I'm new to this site and I'd really appreciate some feedback (my chances, anything I could do to improve, etc.)

any idea of what my chances are? ^^

did write about your service trip in your essay? do the teachers who are writing recs for you know you very well?
i'd definitely post again once you have scores. also, are you first generation?
awesome ec's! good luck!

Well I am a junior, so I haven't written any essays yet or really gone after recommendations.....I'll probably write about my trip in the essay, if that is the smart thing to do. advice?

did you take psat's this year? if you did, then that should give you an idea of what the sat's are like and how much you want to prepare. as for the essay, i wouldn't worry too much about it yet, i must have skimmed over the part that says you are a junior. sorry 'bout that lol. but anyway, with the essay, some good advice that my english teacher told us was to write an essay that couldn't have been written by anyone else, that reveals your personality, your morals, and who you are as a person. he wrote this quote on the board "I want to accept you to _____ because our college needs more _____." it think that gave a pretty good idea of what the essay should be.
otherwise, just keep your grades up, participate in activities/sports and don't stress too much! :)

thanks a lot for the advice...i appreciate it

no problem
:)

Your Ecs are great, but I dont see passion.

bump.........

.....bumping.....

eh... u can't predict something off more predictions... post hoc fallacy

great extra-curriculars.....u need a bit more to stand out....right now, i'd see you as the person on the bubble in the adcoms of hy or p....cuz you're clearly qualified, but need a special hook....something that makes them say, wow, we need him to fill this space (athletic recruit, urm, legacy)...or, wow, that's something we dont have here (quirky interest you'll pursue in college, a truly unique accomplishment)....

hmm i see....i guess im gonna have to figure out what that hook will be...
