GPA: 3.2 (87)
SAT: 1850 (translates to a low 1200 on the old scale I think)
Classes worth mentioning:

AP American History
AP European History
AP US Government
AP English Literature
AP Environmental Science

SAT II AMERICAN HISTORY: 700-750 (scores haven't come back yet)

I've won a number of awards especially for public speaking and what not. Also won awards for things like "Parliamentary Procedure" and an award called Mr. Future Business Leader.

I'm basically VERY involved in my community and I do a bit above average in school I suppose.

I've visited American and I've been emailing them a lot. I'm also having an interview on campus later this summer when I visit again.

I'm also really involved with this club FBLA (Future business leaders of America).... I'm a State President from the organization... really involved (more so than other clubs).

It's like one of two clubs I'm in but i'm REALLY active in it.

I'm also an Emergency Medical Service volunteer and have a REALLY passionate interest in politics and history.

I've got some really good recommendations lined up too.... So, what are my chances?

Definitely get those GPA and Sat scores up...then you will surely have a shot at many schools

and remember...e-mailing, phoning, and visiting AFTER you apply(and don't know decision) tends to be annoying for any college and will result in a less likelihood of entrance

True.

But it's getting hard now to raise that GPA.
The SAT I can get up to like 1900 or 2000 (Math: 590-620) (Verbal: 660-720) (Writing:750-800)

But what about the chances at AU? I realize my grades aren't the highest but I do feel that there are other things about me that make me unique. I mean, do the colleges look at this in reality or is that just a BS answer they give to everyone?

I love AU and I love DC and I desperately want to go here. I'm actually proud to not be an overachiever in school. But I do try and I have a fair average.

i would say, yourr best bet would be to write a kick a** essay, make sure you pick the best teachers to write the best recs and definitely give a good interview.

Try to somehow incorporate your essay into your E.C.s. From the looks of it, you are interested in business. Write about an experience that has to do with business. With all those, I am sure you will be a very good contender

Yeah I already know my two teachers and they both told me they'd write me a recommendation... I asked "a good one?" they said "a great one". haha... So I'm good with that.

As for my essay, I think it will be really good. I'm writing about politics and how I want to be a politician.... I think it may start something like "Tommy last name will be President of the United States of America." or something like that...

I wrote two already (their topic was write a cover article for a in the year 2025).

I wrote about politics and yeah. It'll be a damn fine essay I think.

Where else on my application can I discuss EC's though? Because I do have a lot to say about them but I don't just want to write about them in my essay.

Is there somewhere on the applicaiton where I can mention this? Or can I submit my own supplement?
