Hi,
I go to an excellent NYC high school, with somewhere around a 3.5 GPA (that’s a little bit of a guesstimate, as my school doesn’t really do GPAs. whatever. anyway). I did alright on the New SAT, 800W 760CR 690M. I got a 225 on the PSAT, 4s on the Spanish and US History APs, and a 730, 750, and 800 respectively on Spanish, History, and Writing Sat IIs. My grades in math are slightly subpar, Bs and one C. Extracurriculars are good, I interned at a Senator’s office, write for the school paper, am currently interning at a local paper and I get articles published weekly. I have won a couple poetry awards as well, and am an officer for a bunch of clubs at my school. I also work as a lifeguard and have spent the past couple of summers as a camp counselor. Assorted other things as well that I know I’m forgetting. My essay is pretty good, and one of a kind for sure.
I’m a legacy–my dad attended as an international. I’m not a minority (Jewish, which I know won’t help at AU) and female, which doesn’t help either.

youre in says i

I would say you're in, but nothing is 100% sure. Best of luck (but I don't think you need it for AU)!

your in... and hey AU loves in jewish girlies... (like me) :)

again my stats.. way lower.. .and i got in regular decision...

if u have any questions/ comments about AU or college in general (i'm a frosh at AU now) feel free to PM me

doublelayer...you are really helping us by providing the inside scoop...tell me...will a really high sat compensate for a stinky gpa at AU? great recs and ecs...

...well what is your gpa ben & jerry?

i had a 1240 sat.. amazing recs & ecs...

yet i had a 3.3 gpa (like a b+) and i got in....

my sat is 2080 ...700 verbal...700 writing and 680 math but the weighted gpa is 3.4...several Cs unfortunately...very challenging course load...8aps by graduation...

Haha, yay for jewish girls! When I was preparing for my interview and asked my dad what his favorite thing was about AU, I swear he said "All the lovely Jewish ladies." Oy. Anyway, thanks for all your help! I really loved the campus and of course the location can't be beat. I am a little concerned about the prevalence of frat culture...any opinions on it?

frat culture.. no need to be worried... AU isn't THAT into Greek life (something like 14% i want to say?... as opposed to a schoo like Lehigh which is 75%) Actually when i was looking at school, one of AU fine qualities is that greek life, isn't that big at AU as opposed to a school like Lehigh..

Its all about joining clubs... my ex-roomie was on the cycling team.. so they worked together, play together, paried together... it was almost like their own little frat... (like they had hell week, etc)

but yeah since i'm not really into sports... and i didn't find my niche w/ clubs i am actaully going greek (and i am SO excited btw)

whats nice about female greek life, is that the sororitys don't have their own houses. This is becuase in DC, no more then 4 unrelated women are aloud to live in a house together, be cause it is considered a brothal
yeah... so AU provides a nice almost like semi-greek seen, because you are part of the greek life... but i don't have to live w/ these girls...

As for guys... its really up to u... like u can go to the greek parties, but u don't necessaraily have to be part of greek life... and there are other parties and clubs that one can go 2 if they aren't into the greek life.

Plus AU is right in the heart of DC... if u aren't into parties... there is so much that one can do 2 have a good time...

questions?? comments?? feel free to ask em here or PM me
