i tutor at a volunteer center since sept for 2 hrs a week and for about 5 hrs a week this summer
intern at Senator Bayh's NYC office
summer of sophmore year i went to france with a travel group that had an arts focus.

I want to apply as an international relations major (polisci at wesleyan). I also write well and interview well. my mom went to tufts so i have a slight advantage there.

Besides my chances at these 3, what other schools might be good fits/safeties? I'm looking at Macalester, Carnegie Mellon (humanities college), umich, and the SUNYs (safety). where else?

Brown- Reach
Tufts- match (legacy)
Wesleyan- match
Michigan (OOS)- match
CMU- match
SUNY Binghamton- safety
SUNY Stony Brook- super safety

if you like brown and wesleyan, look at vassar and connecticut college for matches, and skidmore for a safety.

If you're interested in international relations, you might want to look at Georgetown (a match) and American University (a safety).

Macalester - low match

thanks guys this is really helpful

wow, finally someone with humble stats like mine -- and NOT interested in engineering. I'm no expert so trust me, you don't want my opinion, but its just reassuring to see people with ""normal"" (2130 is way above average) stats on this website!

good luck

thanks. i don't think SAT scores matter that much. while they do help, i think factors like grades, recs, ecs, and personality are more important. given between 2 students with similar grades and backgrounds, many schools (except maybe mit, caltech) would rather have a vibrant, charming 2100 than a boring, robotic 2370.
