i heard from someone that if you're ELC you don't have the cap...? then my uc gpa would be 4.591

Which college are you applying to?
only berkeley counts quotas for college right? Electrical Engineering and Computer Science

List a few of your most important ECs (a laundry list of 20+ items is not needed)
-Vice Prez of Interact Club
-Newspaper (Graphics Editor 11th and 12th grade, Tech Senior Editor 12th grade) and our newspaper was distinguished by the Columbian Journalism Review, especially for graphics.

sorry for double post, but

i'm an asian male, parents combined income over $100,000, brother already goes to berkeley (no legacy...?)

.........................

lol thanks but doesn't really answer my question... :D

oops kinda wasn't thinking while writing this. piano was for 12 years this october rofl. XD

bump 10 char

GPA/Courseload is good, SAT is pretty good (math + verbal). I'd say MIT and CalTech are reaches, but Berkely is a match.

In at Berkeley for sure...it's a big stretch for MIT/Caltech, but I'm envying you for being a Cali resident and in at Berk (#2 for engineering) lol. I'd apply to Berkeley if my chances as an NJ applicant weren't next to nil. But you have a good overall profile. Good luck! Chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/564831-can-you-feel-tension.html

BUMP!
i needs moars! and btw, this is for eecs, berkeley's most selective major...lol

that ELC rumor is false. Everyone gets the same cap.

Cal - match
caltech - reach
MIT -reach

bump

isn't it extremely hard to get into Berkeley's EECS program? I kinda want to study microprocessor CMOS logic circuits (with the corresponding materials science background).

what major should I apply under to maximize the chance of getting in? (for berk, caltech, and MIT?)

Wait actually, I am not sure if the ELC rumor is false. I've heard mixed answers now.. so there might be no cap for ELC's

sorry for the misunderstanding

Cal - match
caltech - reach
MIT - reach (but it's always one isn't it?)
