Can you tell me if I have any chance of getting into Columbia Early Decision? Will my film experience help me get in to their film program??

in CA and taking the ACT? I dunno how that'll look; aside from that, everything looks good to me; good chance...your film experience should help...tell me, why CA and the ACT?

what do you mean, why in CA???

So do you think that being from CA will hurt my admission chances? What other colleges do you think I could get into/reach/match???

whoa...slow down...I'm just curious why you're submitting/releasing your ACT score rather than your SAT score....most people from California submit SAT scores and Columbia might question why you're submitting ACT scores. If you're big on filming, try NYU. I mean, not to sound harsh, but Columbia is a reach for anyone. I enjoy film too, but I've found that it seems sort of limiting. I mean, I don't know of many other good schools that are really good in regular academics (history, science, math, etc) as well as film aside from NYU and Columbia. You do have tons of volunteer time and that'll deffinately help you out. I've never predicted someone's chances for getting into a certain college before, and I don't plan to now either. I will tell you, though, that you will deffinately have a much higher chance of admission if you do apply ED over regular. I'm pretty sure that wanting to be active in film can actually be a disadvantage. Columbia is the TOP film school that also has other top programs. Tons of people will be applying to film and other subjects at Columbia.

congrats fellow congressional award recipient! Just got my silver medal today..i have to wait until January for my Gold (to complete two years)! Since you are the only person on CC i know that has that award..how would you describe it on your apps? I'm not really sure what it is, my dad made me do it...

Ya, i can get my gold until april 2006, when my two years are up. I was thinking about putting it in my essay
