Chances at Cornell with current subject test scores

Hey! So I just received my subject test scores back and really they’re my only big worry other than the essay that I still have to write. I was planning to apply early decision but at this point, I’m not too sure anymore. Oh yeah, I was planning to apply to the College of Engineering.

GPA: 4.00
SAT I: 2220 (M 720, R 750, W 750)
SAT II: 680 Math 2, 710 Physics

For my physics, I essentially taught myself AP Physics for the subject test so I’m not too worried about that one. But my Math 2 poses an issue in my mind. Should I still apply early decision with these scores or would it be worth it to get a high score in Math 2 or Math 1 and then apply for regular, seeing as how it would be too late? I’d be so grateful for anyone’s opinion on this. Thank you!

The thing with early decision is that it doesnt make it really that much easier to get into the school. Its just more qualified applicants apply at once and the pool is much smaller. Keeping that in mind, cornell engineering is pretty prestigious and difficult to get into. It is really important to boost your sat IIs scores up. An 800 on math 2 is only 81 percentile nationally. Generally most applicants apply with 750 ++ scores. Also there are certain testing requirements Cornell Engineering. I think you need math 2 not 1. Your SATI score and GPA looks good though. Hope this helps.

I got into the CoE with a 760 Math 2 and 750 Chem (also submitted 750 Math I). The Math SAT can be of any level, not just 2. I’d say try improving your Math 2 to 700+ range. If you think you can do better in Physics, go for it.

thanks for the input! @DaedricSaiyan @smileydinosaur
