I know that SATs are hypothetical, but go on them when you make your predictions. Thanks forall your help.

Based on kids from my daughter's HS who got in to Dartmouth, Penn, and Cornell ED, you have a good shot. Suggestions:
1. Get a LOT of feedback on your essays. Make sure they're really good.
2. Are you any good at all as an athlete? Have you won any regional prizes in anything? (All our ED kids had some sort of outstanding thing they'd won--a film competition, a major orchestral thing, a science fair, a writing contest) The Ivies are all counting coup against each other, looking for bragging rights about how many prizes their students have won.
3. Think NOW about a nice backup. If you don't get into Dartmouth, you won't get into Yale/Princeton/etc. Georgetown, Northwestern, Tufts, all are beautiful and the kids are very nice.

A boy we know was specifically RECRUITED by Dartmouth--they BEGGED him to apply since he was half Mexican and very smart and athletic. When he applied--they turned him down. So don't entrust your heart to these people.

I have won alot of miniture painting awards, will that count? As far as athletic awards, I am not unbelievably talented, I just like running, lol. Thanks for your feedback!

First of all, it's "miniature"--I think. Does that mean you paint teensy-weensy paintings? I have no idea if that counts or not. Winning the Ayn Rand essay contest counts. The Intel sience awarads count. The National Geography Bee counts. Unless you're an art major--I doubt the painting counts.

Yeah, your right, I spelled it wrong. I paint models for a hobby, and I happen to be very good at it. I don't plan to major in art at college, so does that mean they won't help me? I guess I could try some essay contests, anyway.

Theres a kid at my school who got into Dartmouth ED with almost the exact same stats. Just keep your 4.0 gpa and try to get reinvolved in theater because I would think you would want an app that showed how you were academic, athletic, and artistic. Best of luck for Dartmouth '10.

Thnks for your feedback! I might re-join theatre, but I also play an instrument, and paint models. Im not sure I could do Indoor track and theatre....I just might!

anyone else?

...bump...

I think it's moronic to have "probable" standardized test scores. Whatever.

I would say you are good in a lot of areas. Very nice GPA. :) Good rank - it places you in what, about the top 2%? Your junior schedule also looks very good.

But FYI, Dartmouth wants 3 years of foreign language. I understand you began at year II probably because of middle school, as did I. But you really should try to get 3 years in and a fourth would be even better.

Good luck.

I might take a Spanish class next summer at a community college, I just hope I can remember enough ;). Thanks for the feedback!

I think it is all good, but about half of your app at this point is hypothetical. I could give you my true honest opinion once you actually take the SATS.

YW. Spanish at a CC should be fine.

ok, thanx. I know my SATs are just speculation, but I think I will score around there.
