I am currently a junior in highschool and wanted to know what CC forums think my chances are. I have a 35 act (36,34,36,35), straight A’s with 15 APs by graduation, and am part of every possible honor society. I have or will have taken the hardest classes available at my school including Calc BC, physics C and AP Lit. In terms of EC: National level debate, regional science fair champion and special recognition award recipient at States, interned at a local University with a pharmacy professor doing research, started a foundation and club at my school, play 4 years varsity soccer and will be captain, 4 years competitive club soccer, am a tour guide and have various, less meaningful officer positions at other clubs. What are my chances at schools like Duke, Penn or Columbia ED and regular.
@futurbludevil23 Very good chances, but of course these schools are crapshoots for almost anyone. What are you interested in studying?
When choosing between the three you have to think about fit as well. Penn and Duke have more similarities in terms of campus vibe, social life, overall atmosphere, type of people. Columbia is more different. But even Duke and Penn have major differences so make sure you research them very thoroughly and you start thinking of what kind of environment you prefer.
You seem like the ideal well rounded applicant. But that isn’t necessarily a good thing. Colleges like these want to see students that are really good at one thing, rather than good at everything. What is your major?
