hi i was wondering if any of you might know what my chances for admission would be or if any of you had similar stats and were accepted? (i plan on applying early because its my top choice, although i think it is a reach so i dont know if that affects anything)
- im a junior at a private catholic high school

my cumulative average will be about a 92...
honors/ ap/ courses that werent required but i took anyways:
english honors 9 10 11
ap lit 12
ap econ 12
history honors 10 11 12 (12 is actually a college couse with credits)
honors french 11
ap french 12
latin/ italian/ shakesphere (my school only offers one year each of these so that is all i took)
theology honors (training couse to be a religion teacher)

(all my grades have been above a 95 w/ the exception of math and science so i dont know if they take that into consideration for the low gpa?)

sats will prob be around 2000, sat II's probably between 710 and 780 for world history, lit and french (maybe us history)

i plan on applying to sfs but would apply to the college if i thought i had a better chance of being accepted.

if anyone could respond that would be much appreciated!

i have a similar GPA and higher SATs and was rejected. Thats definitely not to say you have no chance. My friend had better grades than me and significantly lower SAT scores (and no hook) and she got in early. if you can, work on improving math/science, b/c, as depressing as it is to think about, there are people out there who excel at *everything/i.

If I were you, I would apply to the college and would NOT put Political Science as my intended major. I applied early and said I wanted to major in Political Science and minor in history. When I was defferred, someone I know who works at Georgetown told me I should not have put political science as my intended major b/c it is the hardest major to be accepted under. If you have any particular strengths in a language, I would put that (I wish I had put French b/c I'm fluent!) or history or something. Once your in, you can change to w/e major you want. Just a suggestion.

I had higher GPA, more leadership in ecs and was a legacy and active Catholic and I got rejected. However, my school doesn't rank, which apparently peeves the Gtown adcom, and therefore they apparently don't like my school. The one girl who did get into Gtown (last year) from my school had lower stats and bad sats (according to her, not me!) but she got in. She said the fact that she was a senator's daughter might have helped. Basically, I think they also like people who are connected to politics in some way, so maybe you have ecs or something that's government related?

thanks, i will really consider putting french or history as my major (because those have always been my two best subject by far). do you know if literature is an uncommon major? well i am definatly not a senator's daughter but i may have some kind of politcal internship this summer so i guess that may be of some help if i apply to sfs?

My stats are pretty much the same except I haven't gotten my SAT scores back yet but I think they should be around 2000/1200's area. I'm also going to take them in October. My cumulative average is a 94/95 ish. I'm also really involved in my school with both community and religious activities(I also go to a catholic high school & georgetown is my number 1.) Is applying early action a good route to take?

I agree with koolcrud Georgetown doesn't really pride itself in its Catholic tradition as much as other schools do.

I go to a Jesuit HS and we recently had a Jesuit College fair and Georgetown was the only Jesuit institution that wasn't touring with them. It was kind of a bummer because I'm looking at Georgetown.
