Chances at GWU, JHU, UMich, UConn,William and Mary, NYU

Hey guys! First of all let me thank all of you who took their time to read this.
I am an American citizen but for the past 8 yrs i've been living in pakistan-and i'm 17

-SAT I December 2010 1620/2400 but retook in January 2011 and got 1730 (CR 550, W560, M620)-it's not the best score but..yeah.
-TOEFL iBT score 113/120-I'm a US citizen but UMich made me take it :|

I applied to:

George Washington University
SUNY-Stony Brook University (accepted)
Johns Hopkins University
Rutgers New Brunswick (accepted)
Rutgers Newark (accepted)
College of William and Mary
Washington University in St. Louis (rejected)
University of Colorado Denver
University of Michigan Ann Arbor
University of Connecticut
New York University

I've been accepted to 3 colleges but what chances do I have for the rest. I just really really want to get into GWU and Michigan! Also, it would be nice if anyone who was accepted any of these colleges mentions their stats. oh..and my essay was pretty good and the recommendations were great. GPA is around 3.4 (my school doesn't calculate gpa but this is what i mentioned) and class rank is top 10%. Also I applied for financial aid-if that helps. And i did apply ED to George Washington university but later shifted to regular decision because my Jan SAT was supposed to arrive a few days after they would review my file so i was forced to change it to RD
Also, i'm a NJ resident
Anyway..thanks for reading all of this!

A 1730 SAT and 3.4 GPA would not typically be on target for JHU, UMich, College of William & Mary, or NYU. I’m actually a little confused by your seemingly strong interest in UMich considering your subjective stats, so perhaps I am missing the gravitas of some of your EC’s somewhere.

As I can tell, you would be a high reach at JHU, UMich, College of William & Mary, or NYU.

What’s your intended major? Stony Brook is strong in the sciences if that’s your interest. Your SAT and GPA will be a problem for most on your list. Not sure about UConn.

@hinsdale1 thanks for answering. I guess they are reaches but my dad really loves michigan and when i visited the campus, I fell in love :stuck_out_tongue: Do you think I’ll get into GWU? Id be really happy if I get in there! thanks again

@rmac399 My intended major for every place I applied was Biology/pre medicine so yeah…a science major. But Stony Brook isn’t the best of colleges and when applying to med school, doesn’t the name of the college have any role. Not really sure. Thanks for answering!

Midpoint SAT score (of the 25% - 75% range) for George Washington is 1910. Your score of 1730 is even below the 25% point score of 1775 (means only 25% of applicants enrolled have less than 1775 sat score). Below the 25% range are generally the realm of athletes, developmentals, URMs, legacies, hooks, and the specials (enormous accomplishment but without amazing stats).

So, I would rate you as a reach for GW as well. Good luck though!

The good news is that it is undergrad grades, recs, research, and MCATS that will be the determining factors when applying for med school, not the name of the undergraduate school.

@hinsdale1 okay…thanks dude. I hope I get in!
