<p>I thought MIT didn't admit legacies on the principle that they are legacies. I also thought they didn't admit people based on athletic performance.</p>
<p>Excuses, Excuses, Colleges DON'T CARE ABOUT EXCUSES! College is a form of preparation for the real world, you can't make any excuses, if you did poorly freshman year then you did poorly. Don't blame it on anything.</p>

<p>Exacty, anyone can make up excuses, colleges don't care about familial problems, they just want to see that you can continue your academic performance, what you did freshman year is what you did freshman year, colleges won't care about anything else; family problems, depression, reflexive problems, etc.</p>
