Taking USH in january

Now for academic stuff
Rank 2/360, saledictorian
i think about a 4.0 gpa uw
took most rigorous course in my school which isnt saying much, 6 APS, 10 honors.

Um now for the essays
MOst of them will be good. Some may be a bit iffy but overall pretty ok / good

EC's
This one club called ACE team. Pretty fun club. Like jeapordy. Won many awards for it. its a regional thing
Math Field day - (we have no math / science club) went to regionals twice
NHS - not much to say here. TUtor in this club also
HIspanic NHS - treasurer for this club. Do other things >.>
Big Brothers Big Sisters - a club in which I tutor 2 hours a week to another kid
Varsity tennis - 10-12. 3rd doubles team
Varsity CC - 9-10. Now really worth mentioning. Wasnt very good at it though.
SPIRIT program - My school is very diverse. With minorities making up about 40% (about 25% african american, 10% hispanic, 5% asian and other races). In this it was a 2 day workshop. We talked about many things our school had problems with. Pretty interesting. Was nominated the speaker and leader for the asian group whenever we have meetings during the year to talk about this thing.

Some out of school things
9th grade summer - summer school / volunteer at hospital for 50 or so hours
10th grade fall - volunteered at a theatre for about 70 hours
11th grade summer - summer school / volunteered at hospital for 50 hours or so
12th grade - traveled to india. Got to see some cool things. Some surgery's too :0

Anyhow summer was pretty filled for me, believe it or not.

Some things i did
Visited U penn - have 3 1st cousins going there (dont know if this counts as legacy but someone there told me to put it down. It cant hurt me)
Visited JHU
Went to a tour session on MIT
Visited GW
Visited UVA

Ok finally awards.
9th Grade - Golden Horseshoe Award (involved both 8th and 9th) (State award)
10th - Math Field Day - advanced to regionals
9th, 10th - Social Studies Fair - Advanced to regionals both times
9th, 10th - Science Fair - Advanced to regionals both times
11th - Highest Point Award (ACE Team)
11th - ACE Team - 1st place
9th - 11th - Success Through Academic Recognition (STAR)
Volunteer Awards - From two separate hospitals for volunteering

I have more awards and probably more EC's but some of them are not worth mentioning. Anyhow thanks for the feedback in advance!

Oh and please help me with this.

Which of my list of colleges REQUIRE 3 subject tests? i am taking the ush in january and want to send SAT scores right now to colleges.

Also could someone tell me if duke does? i am still wondering..

NM one last note though. Scratch off drexel / lehigh. add duke + northwestern.

ide say u should get into most all of them including duke and northwestern

Upenn, cornell,MIT, and princeton im not sure about...ur acadademic record is great, but so are all other applicants.

But i do reccomend that u still apply to all of them

Thanks lots. I thought duke was harder to get in than cornell / penn JUDGING by SAT scores. I guess thats not a good indicator?

But man even if I get in ONE of those 10 schools that I applied that have high scores i would be happy (the ones not being GW (too costly), wvu, upitt,)

I am just worrying I wont get in any of them and will end up going to wvu. Upitt doesnt seem costly that much... its also a possibility if financial stuff comes in to play.

Bump lkfsjdjl.

Bumps 10 char.

Oh I just got this award today. Out of the county 2 students are selected per month as students of the month. ITs about out of 1000 - 1200 students. I was selected the first month (september) but was not notified until today. MAN i wish I put that on the MIT application. But anyhow this is definetly a good award for me.

Okay, being an asian male doesn't help, being from WV helps a little.

Grades good, other stuff fine, and it doesn't matter a whole lot.

1480 good for Cornell, and what school?
Good for CMU.
Above avg at JHU, but still slight reach
Allright for Upenn, okay/reach chance there.
Low for MIT, esp as Asian male.
Too low for Pton, plus princeton is for elitist bourgoeis anyways.
Dunno bout Swarthmore.
Rest prbly in.

engineering.
oh but I did MIT lol EA. I know I prob. wont get in but o well. Thanks!

bumping (10)

bump 10 char

Why are asian people so damn smart?

dunno. why does no one post in my topic >.<

taking the SAT four times is not going to be looked upon favorably, but it shouldn't deter from your application significantly. i believe most elite schools recommend taking it twice.

you're asian and you're in the Hispanic National Honor Society? HAH.

from what i see, you're lacking leadership and community service - two "biggies" at elite schools. you have volunteering at hospitals and tutoring stuff on your resume, but let's be honest. every asian applicant is going to have that on their resume. you need to be able to stand out from the rest of the pack. you have nothing about leadership. frankly, your SAT score isn't high enough to make them overlook these two components of your application.

oh, and there's no such thing as a "saledictorian."

I thought I mentioned that no college except Princeton
and MAYBE JHU will see the 4th SAT. So thats not a problem.

bumping.. d
