Chances at medical school from UCLA

Hi, I have currently finished my coursework at UCLA and I want to know what my chances are at medical school. I want to really attend UCLA medical school, but I am open to other medical school as well I just want to know my chances. The one thing that I am worried about is my GPA specifically my science GPA. It is a 3.2 science GPA and the reason its so low is because overall from all the science classes I obtained 4 C’s and 1 C+. I am a biochemistry major and my overall GPA was a 3.54. I am currently taking this year off to study for MCATS, and if I were to hypothetically get a 35 on the MCATS what would my chances be.

Science Classes:

Community College:

Gen Chem 1: A
Gen Chem 2: A
Biology 1: A
Biology 2: A
Calc 1: C
Calc 2: C

UCLA:

Ochem 1: B
Ochem 2: B-
Ochem 3: B
Chem 30bl: A

LS3: C+
LS4: C
LS23l: B

Physics 6A: B
Physics 6B: A
Physics 6C: A

Math32A( Calc 3): A

Chem 153A(biochem): A
Chem 153L(biochem lab 1): A

These are all the med school requirements and these add up to the 3.2 GPA.

-The rest of my major

Chem 153B(biochem 2): A
Chem 153C(biochem 3): A
Chem 154(biochem lab 2): A
Chem 110A(physical chem): A
Chem 171( inorganic chem): A
Chem 156(physical biochem) :A
(3) upper div biochem classes: A

If you add these classes with the rest of all my classes I have taken in community college and UCLA you get 3.54 GPA.

I dont know you guys because my overall GPA is good even for my major, but I am scared because my actual med school requirements do not look that great. Especially the LS courses.

So please you guys what do you think my chances are and be honest. Thanks everyone.

Actually one mistake under the community college section for Biology 1 that should not be an A it should be a C

Any opinions you guys. I mean I would appreciate anything. If you are viewing this and you do not know how to chance or whatever, I really do not mind at all. Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks.

Maybe do some shadowing and research? A paper or two would help. Honestly, all I can say is that GPA is not going to be good. Luckily, it looks like lots of bad points were math, but that may not be factored in (perhaps mention it?). Hopefully you can get an interview and wow them, but again, watch out for that GPA— youll need to stand out in other ways.

I am not an expert in this, but you will easily get in somewhere if you get a 35. Your grades by themselves are probably not good enough to get in. Probably a good idea to study for the MCAT for a year even if you don’t get a 35.

Thanks for your opinions @mathplustutornj and @andyis
