Chances at MIT??

Hey,
I am from a middle class white family… middle class city. My SAT is a 1510 with an 800 in math and 710 in English. My weighted gpa is a 4.65/5 and unweighted in a 3.95. I take almost all AP or honors and getting A’s in AP calc, physics, and bio. I am going to take my SAT 2 and get around 800 in math 2 and 700 in physics and bio.

Even if you had perfect SAT scores and GPA, MIT would still be a reach because it is for everyone. You have good enough stats, so apply and see what happens. How are your extracurriculars? You need to distinguish yourself from all the other applicants with great scores.

MIT is a reach. I think that it is worth applying if you want to go there but definitely have other options. 700 is a bit low for physics and bio SAT tests for MIT but you might do better than you expect.

You need to have a good reason to go there. MIT is academically very challenging and is not a good match for every very strong student. You have to want to do it.

MIT is a reach for everyone. Apply, but make sure you have plenty of matches and safeties.

Your stats are good for considerations and is worth opting for Good Luck!!

You don’t have to take both SAT Physics and Bio. Pick the one you’re better in and forget the other so you’ll have more time to prepare for the exam which should increase your score. You should definitely apply. The worst is having regrets and wondering what if.
