No RSI for me . And they spelled my name "Frnak" on the letter!

They gave you your first name? Or is frank your last name? It just said 'Dear Mr. Li' for me...

very good shot with Caltech and Cornell...
Stanford may be difficult, but you'd still have a good shot..
But competition's getting tougher by the year so keep on looking for opps to improve yourself!

and for the record, reciting it to the one thousandth would be "3.141"
what you probably meant was reciting it to a thousand places after the decimal...
sorry :( i'm a ***** on linguistics..

no, actually to the THOUSANDTH it would be 3.142 (just my 2sense)

Rounding it to the thousandth would give you 3.142..
to the thousandth = rounding it to the thousandth (?)
not sure, not like it matters

Well, Frank is my first name. I meant the little blurb at the top with my address and stuff.

Frank, you have more than a decent chance at all these schools, but I can also tell you that from the MIT Official RD roster (go to MIT board) there are many with almost the exact resume and were rejected or waitlisted.. Like other CCer's have said.. your ESSAYS are a BIGGGG deal for you, ineterview and any small factor will help because, in ur case u are asian and there's a lot of asians with similar and even better credentials. Make ur app stand out, show them how u are an addition to their school, because although you have a good chance, you also have a great chance to be waitlisted. key here: stand out. yea research might help if u're interested in doing any. Again don't plan ur schedule for the adcoms plan what u like to do.. so only do research if u think its right for you, because that is a rather large time commitment too.

ya, there's a lot of 14 something's that get in, while a lot of 1500's get rejected... it's all a crap shoot...

My MIT essay sucked, and I got waitlisted. My Stanford essay was possibly the best essay I've ever written in my life, but I got rejected. I don't think essays matter THAT much.

Essays really depend on your situation.. you are an international, jwlee8 , thus applying is different for you. Frank, on the other hand is domestic, and he shares some of the high stats that many asians do, for him what would make the differnce would probably be the essays, or if he does something unique that adds on to his already good credentials.

some kid at our school recited it to several thousand digits in a song. :-p

that song mustve been lame. (just a guess.) rofl

Yeah. I'm pretty sure it got really lame really quickly :-p.

I'm not sure if I'm really an international. I have dual citizenship. Even though I attend a Korean school, wouldn't I be considered a domestic?

I'm not sure.. sorry I had no clue you were a dual citizen

Yeah, well, my other essays weren't that good either. Maybe that was why I got rejected from all of the Ivies. I should have started writing my essays sooner. :(
