Getting into UT's comm school is really, really hard out of state.

arrubato is a good example of what happens to people on crack.

but yeah, you have a good shot at the schools on your list, good luck!

thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!! anyone else have any opinions!
i know its hard to get into UT out of state but is it really that hard with my stats and all??!! I know they are not off the roof fantastic but UT accepts people with SAT scores into the mid 500's!!

aruubato is a moron. ignore him and put your all into the application for medill. my mother went there and ended up being an attorney because she was so disenfrachised with how shady working up the ranks in the world of journalism is.

thanks! Did your mom work for print, broadcast, online, or magazine??

ohh and was it easy for her to get into law school with a journalsim degree? did she double major? if so, in what?

print. she went to rutgers law for her jd and then brooklyn law for her doctorate.

mind you this was back in 1975. :)

ohh ok...thanks! cuz i really like journalism but i know if you dont make it big you will make very little $....so i was thinking about law scholl after j-school so at least if i cant make it big the law profession will always be their for me!? is that a good or bad idea?

Why on earth wouldn't you apply to UMissouri? They have the most respected journalism school in the country. If you are really planning on staying with journalism, the school has a phenomenal rep among the media, way more so than the "big-name" schools.

Um.. ignore arubato. Your SAT scores are great. =] You have a good shot at all. And a good shot at ED NW too. best of luck.

DespSeekPhd: I considered UMissouri for about a month but when I went to visit the campus I was VERY unimpressed! The campus is dirty and gross! No offence to any UM students but it is! And....I do want to do broadcast journalism but I would like to double major in something else. UMissouri is just not that good of a school except their journalism department. i want a school where I have the flexibility to switch majors and it would still be ok. Say I hate broadcast journalism. What do I do at UM??? Get a cruddy degree in poli sci??? The school is a state school! I would go to PSU if I wanted to go to a state school! That is why its not on my list!!!!!!!!!!

Your in all the way if your essay and recs are as good as you say they will be.

Ok!!!! When someone offers advice, don't get all upset!!! With exclamation points!!! Really!!!!

i wasnt trying to get across like that. i was just telling the person reasons why (if your talking about the post above) i wasnt considering UM. sorry if i sounded upset. i really am not upset.
