yep, I know that. Thx for looking out :)

You're absolutey correct in that regard. But I detect a know-all attitude in many posters, who proclaim with absolute certainty that an OP will not get in to a certain college.

Overall though, I find chances thread to be mildly useless. There are so many facets of an applicant that cannot be conveyed in a simple online post. Ultimately, I think chances threads are a bid to boost the OP's ego or at least to assuage any worries the OP might have. Which is fine in a way, but I see many posters come away with deflated egos, which isnt something that should happen.

Is it not? When I share my opinion, I try to be realistic. Normally I try to point out the weak points and the strong points (i.e., areas you should de-emphasize and emphasize, respectively). I'm not trying to inflate/deflate anyone's ego. No one should go into applying to Princeton with absolute confidence. It's very difficult to get into, and even the very best don't get in sometimes. I think posting your stats on this site is less asking for "chances," but what CC'ers feal are the strong and weak points of the application, and how their perception on how that will affect the applicant's chances. It's not an absolute...it's intended to be a semi-realistic idea (semi in the sense, of course, that each post should be taken "with a grain of salt"). Don't put too much weight on these posts either way (i.e., don't let it affect your ego too much). If you don't want people "blasting" your application--don't post! People with the "best chances" still get deferred, and those with the "worst" chances may still get in. It's almost a stochastic (random) system.

lol "stochastic" its a million dollar word.

why would anyone use it?

To show off. :p
jk, jon...but really, you could have just said "random"!

lol he even put "random" in parentheses!!!

wahahaha

bumpbumpbump...what a discussion. What about my chances? any more advice?

i know i know : )...i just like the word stochastic! I should have put it as my favorite word on the app--I put infinite though : P.

wasn't that so hard to choose?! i ended up putting "bittersweet"...random, i know!

Jtivy.. i don't think there is any point in asking about ur chances.. probably u know that u have great stats except for ur SAT...take SAT again and try to improve it...
U knew about ur stats before u asked others...and others won't know other important things like essays and recos... so, is there any real point in discussing ur chances?
Just apply and hope for the best...

well Jtivy, are u currently a JUNIOR or a SENIOR? sounds like you are a junior, which would give you plenty of time.

oh, and have you taken any ap classes and ap tests?

yeaaah i agree with everyone else... your SAT is pretty low considering that half of the people who apply to princeton have perfect scores.
