Schools in order of choice:
1.UVa (with legacy, Uncle/Aunt are alums-wrote letters, so in-state,)
2. U Mich
3. Georgetown (Business School, NOT SFS!)
4. Wake Forest
5. Cornell (applied to both ag school and Arts and Sciences-for Econ majors)
6. UNC
7. Maryland
8. Vanderbilt
Any others? I'm thinking Northwestern maybe

Could anyone give me a % chance? I will reciprocate

Thanks!

UNC is definately tough. since your OOS your chances of getting in are very slim. Georgetown is a high match/reach. your awards and EC's are very good. SAT's a little low though. take a look at Villanova. they have a very good buisness school.

also you might want to apply to Upenn. its a high reach. but your instate. that would help. and whats the worst that happens? "they regret to say that they can't offer you admission"?

omg Wharton.... uhhhh ehhh i'm hyperventilating at the thought

i think you're probably a match for all schools except you're a reach for cornell, georgetown and unc.

i heard that Upenn had to accept a certain amount of people instate from a deal they made with the state or something. plus Donald Trump went to Wharton.

I thought UVa legacy only extended to parents and maybe grandparents. Two of my uncles went there and they told me no legacy status.

I would say no as to UVA and UNC; maybe for UM and Cornell; yes for the rest.

The schools you have chosen other than Maryland are all reaches in my opinion. If neither parent is a UVA undergraduate alum, you are not getting instate consideration unless you are from VA. Aunts and uncles don't count, and UVA does not put much weight if any on alum letters; they get thousands of them.
UPenn does not give in state consideration--it is an Ivy and not a state school. Penn State is the flagship state school for PA. UMich is a possibility if you get your apps in fast--the longer you wait, the more selective it gets.

One indication that a school is at match level is if you fall within its mid 50% for SAT1 scores. In order to be a likely accept, you should probably be in the upper 25% of those scores. Though your grades will not eliminate you, they are not going to be a big plus either. UVA typically likes their kids to have at very least more A's than B's. The only school other than MD that I would put as a match is Wake Forest. The others are all reaches with UPenn a high reach, given your info

try Penn State University Park...Your scores put you right in the middle 50% of their application pool. You should definitely shoot an application.

id prolly apply to villanova over psu for business

sorry I should clarify, my dad is also an alum at UVa, i just had my uncle and aunt write recs (to show i have FAMILY legacy, not just one guy). I guess I'm really hoping that my ECs help me. because i'm in the RANGE of SATs and ok for GPA for all of them, but I think my ECs are prettty impressive. we'll see. A lot of people are hearing back from UMich so hopefully I will know in the next few days

your gpa and ec's are obviously a little weak, but you have great leadership potential and community involvement. it wouldn't hurt to add one or two more reaches...
that said, you'd better get straight a's this semester!

luck ;-)

1.UVA = reach
2. U Mich= match
3. Georgetown= reach
4. Wake Forest= match
5. Cornell= reach
6. UNC= reach
7. Maryland = low match/safe (you will get in here)
8. Vanderbilt= reach
